Video: Contact Paper Masks and Shaker Cards

Hello friends! It's Channin here with a new video and few cards to share featuring the November 2020 My Monthly Hero Kit . In today’s video I will create several shaker cards and share some of my tips and tricks for masking!

(If you are having trouble viewing this video, please try watching it HERE on YouTube.)

To create these cards, I first cut a 2 3/4” x 2 1/4” rectangular window out of three Dove White A2 (4 1/4” x 5 1/2”) panels with either a craft knife or the Rectangle Peek-a-Boo Doors Mini Infinity Dies . I then traced the openings onto the front of three A2 top-folding white card bases.

Next, I positioned either the snowman, tree, or house onto the card fronts and stamped them in INTENS-ified Black Ink . I then created matching masks out of contact paper using the coordinating dies.

Next, I positioned the rectangular background stamp over the card fronts, picked it up with my MISTI, placed the matching mask on top of the image and then stamped the background in Splash , Thistle and Blue Hawaii Reactive Inks or with the Winter Sky Reactive Ombre Ink Pad included in the kit.

After all my backgrounds were stamped on all three of my cards, I then Copic colored a few of the elements from each image. Next, I stamped the A2 windowed panels with a sentiment and adhered acetate to the back. I then created wells around my stamped scenes on each of my card base with foam tape. Next, I filled the wells with sequins and confetti from the Icicle Sequins Mix and finished the card by sealing the shaker shut with the top panel.

I hope you enjoyed my card and video! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Did anyone else have trouble getting the background to stamp completely around the owl, snowman, and house? Whether I used my stamping platform or a block, I couldn’t get the background completely stamped. Stamper error?

Sally Campbell,

Love, Love, Love this kit. Cant wait until I receive mine.

Cindy Burbanks,

Have been waiting FOREVER for exact cutting dies for masks, etc.!!!! Thank you sooooooooo much!
Ordering my kit ! Hope you will make more exact cutting dies in the future!!!
Paper Hugs,

Jan Castle,

Love the contact paper tip. Think I have some and not doing anything with it. HMMMM!

Patricia Wilson,

Oh, oh, oh! I adore the lino-cut style of the stamps in this kit! I also, for the first time ever, seriously, would order each & every add-on if I could afford it. I think someone had a brilliant idea in making the dies cut right up to the edge of the images so one can easily make masks without having a halo look around the stamped image. Bravo! Everything about this kit & add-ons calls out to me. I love the CAS style cards that can be made with it. Thank you for a chance to win. Hero Arts, you are the Best!

How to make a Polar Bear Christmas Card with Alcohol Markers

Hello, cardmaking friends! It’s Mona Tóth here, and I’m so happy to be back on the Spellbinders blog. Today, I’m sharing a Christmas step-by-step card tutorial featuring the Polar Friends Stamp and Die Set by Simon Hurley. This card was inspired by the Christmas advertisements I remember seeing on television when I was a child in the 1990s. They often featured polar bears surrounded by...
