Hello crafters! Joan Bardee here and I am so honored to share 3 cards with the gorgeous (referring to both Yana and the collection!) Yana’s Daisies Collection. Yana’s Daisies consists of two BetterPress LetterPress plates and their coordinating stencils, a set of dies that form 3 daisies, a set of sentiment BetterPress LetterPress plates and coordinating dies, and a unique embossing folder that is so cool. It’s a big collection with something for everyone.
Like most crafters, I like putting my own spin on products. Today, I went bold and bright and a little modern. But these products are versatile enough to fit whatever your style is -- elegant and sophisticated to casual and everything in between. You are the maker – you choose!
The Daisy Trio LetterPress Plate and Stencil is brilliant. The stencil forms a shadow around the daisies. The shadow creates the illusion that the daisies are die cut. Dimension with no foam tape and so easy!
The Molded Frame 3D Embossing Folder is pure genius. I used it in a bold graphic way, but it can also be used as an elegant background supporting the beautiful daisies or other images. The possibilities are endless.
Note: All cardstock is ColorWheel Cardstock from Spellbinders.
Love a good colorblock – literally large blocks of uninterrupted color. The white tones down the pink and red, but not by much.

THE SHADOW
The Daisy Trio LetterPress Plate and Stencil is brilliant. The stencil forms a shadow around the daisies. The shadow creates the illusion that the daisies are die cut. Dimension with no foam tape and so easy!
- Inked the Daisy Trio LetterPress Plate with bright red ink.
- Ran the press plate through the BetterPress LetterPress with white cardstock. This leaves a red background and daisies outlined in red.
- Ink-blended the daisies using the coordinating stencils with shades of yellow, green, and orange inks.
- To create the shadow, ink blended in a shade darker than your chosen background. My background was bright red, and I used a darker red ink for the shadow.
- Splattered Pearl Silver ink from the Spellbinders Watercolor Mixing Set onto the panel and let dry.
- Trimmed the panel to 5 ¼” x 4”. Adhered with Bearly Arts Glue to a piece of Pop-Up Die Cutting Foam cut slightly smaller.
- Using the Glimmer Machine, hot foiled a sentiment from Crafty Hugs Sentiments with Poppy Colorwheel Cardstock and Opaque White Hot Foil.
- Die cut sentiment with coordinating die and adhered with foam tape.
- Adhered panel to a White A2 side-folded card.
- Adhered Opal Color Essential Gems.
- Did a little happy dance!
TIP: I chose two shades of yellow ink for the daisies. Now that I look at the photos, I can see that the shades were too close in color. Try a little more contrast in ink colors so that some of the petals that should recede. Also, I inked up the full length of each petal because I wanted that look. You will get a more realistic look if you lift your brush before you get to the end of each petal.
THE FRAME
The Molded Frame 3D Embossing Folder is pure genius. I used it in a bold graphic way, but it can also be used as an elegant background supporting the beautiful daisies or other images. The possibilities are endless.
Note: All cardstock is ColorWheel Cardstock from Spellbinders.
- Trimmed Beeswax cardstock to 4” x 5 and ¼ ” and placed inside the Molded Frame 3D Embossing Folder, aligning with the design.
- Misted with water and ran through my Platinum 6 machine.
- Cut pieces of Tutu and Dalia cardstock and taped them together on the back with Best Ever Craft Tape. Did the same with Poppy and Cranberry.
- Placed a square die so that the Tutu and Dalia (and the Poppy and Cranberry), would form squares with a diagonal design as shown.
- Placed the squares randomly inside the Molded Frame 3D Embossing Folder, misted with water, and ran through my Platinum 6 machine. I wanted a geometric design pressed into each square. I don’t mind the random embossing but it you want your diagonal papers to line up with the lines on the embossing folder, then be more intentional!
- Adhered the squares with foam tape in the center rectangle formed by the Molded Frame 3D Embossing Folder.
- Adhered the Beeswax layer to an A2 white side-folded card.
- Selected a sentiment from the Ideal Moments Press Plate & Die Set and ran it through my BetterPress machine using white cardstock and red ink. Die cut with the coordinating die.
- Adhered the sentiment with slivers of foam tape.
COLOR BLOCKED DAISIES
Love a good colorblock – literally large blocks of uninterrupted color. The white tones down the pink and red, but not by much.
- Die cut Yana’s Daisies Etched Dies 2 times with white cardstock, once with Dalia cardstock, and once with Poppy cardstock.
- When you run the die through your Platinum 6, the die will cut individual petals and the centers of the flower as well as an outline that includes the leaves.
- Kept the first white layer together (didn’t pull out the daisy petals or lift off the border after it went through my Platinum 6) and used it as a base on which to build the colored daisies.
- Adhered Dalia petals and Poppy centers to each of the 3 daisies.
- Adhered two layers of the white border.
- Trimmed Dalia and Poppy cardstocks to form rectangles and adhered together on the back with Best Ever Craft Tape as shown.
- Made an A2 card with Poppy cardstock and adhered the Dalia/Poppy piece with Bearly Arts Glue.
- Die cut a sentiment from Fresh Picked Sentiments in white 3 times, adhered together and onto the card.
- Added a few Dimensional White Enamel Dots.
- My husband’s favorite of today’s cards!
