Spectacular Deer Christmas Card Tutorial with Spellbinders Etched Dies

Hi, crafty friends! Lea Lawson here with you today, creating a card featuring the adorable new Spectacular Deer die set. I’m sharing my step-by-step process in easy-to-follow photos and instructions!
The Spectacular Christmas collection launches on July 10th 2026. Club Members enjoy early access now.
Spectacular Deer Ombre Background & Diecutting Tutorial, S5-722, S5-564, S5-526, E3D-146 Die-cut the deer body (from the Spectacular Bear die set) from Fawn & Alabaster cardstock. Die-cut the scarf layers from Poppy and Peridot cardstock. Spectacular Deer Ombre Background & Diecutting Tutorial, S5-722, S5-564, S5-526, E3D-146 Die-cut the deer head & antlers from Fawn, Alabaster & Truffle cardstock. Die-cut the eye backers, nose, and hooves from Raven cardstock. Die-cut the inner ear & cheeks from Blush cardstock. Assemble and glue the deer together in steps. Be sure to add the black eye backers behind the Alabaster Face piece before gluing to the head. You will also need to glue the pink inner ears to the back of the head die. Glue together the scarf, then adhere around the neck of the deer. Die-cut an arch from class white cardstock, then ink-blend a green gradient to it from light to dark. Next, we are going to 3D emboss the panel with the Season Sparkles 3D embossing folder. The best plate sandwich for running this through your Platinum 6 is Platform Base A, 3D Embossing Folder with paper inside, and Adapter Plate D.
TIP (not pictured): To help the paper not crack, I like to mist the back of my cardstock with a little bit of water. Some crafters prefer to mist the front, but I have found the back works best for me!
Spectacular Deer Ombre Background & Diecutting Tutorial, S5-722, S5-564, S5-526, E3D-146 Stamp the sentiment from Spectacular Holiday Sentiments in black on white cardstock. Spectacular Deer Ombre Background & Diecutting Tutorial, S5-722, S5-564, S5-526, E3D-146 Die-cut the sentiment with the coordinating die set. Cover an A2 white card base with Poppy cardstock, then mount the ink-blended arch to the front with foam tape. Glue the deer to the front, then mount the sentiment with thin foam strips underneath the deer. Accent the card with gold self-adhesive crystals to finish. I find using the Precision Tool from the Handy Tool Kit helpful when adhering the tiny crystals to the card. I hope you enjoyed seeing this adorable Christmas card come to life and how fun it is to refresh past favorite backgrounds with brand new die sets!
