Creating Glittery Sentiments with Embossing Powder

Good morning! Jess here with a glittery golden birthday card using the adorable new Decorate a Cake set along with some previously released sentiments!

To start I wanted a little texture in my background panel so I stamped an A2 panel of Hero Hues Nautical Cardstock with the Star and Line Bold Prints background stamp using Navy ink. It adds a subtle but interesting texture and is especially visible in person! Next I stamped the unicorn cake, horn, and flowers from Decorate a Cake with Embossing and Watermark ink on Hero Hues Dove White Cardstock and heat-embossed them with Gold Glitter Embossing Powder. I colored them with Copic markers and then die-cut them with the coordinating Frame Cuts.

Next I die-cut the Happy Message Fancy Die from Hero Hues Dove White Cardstock three times and adhered them together with Precision Glue. Then I carefully pressed the Embossing and Watermark ink pad on the sentiment and heat-embossed it with Gold Glitter Embossing Powder. I repeated it twice until I had a nice thick sentiment that almost seems to be cut from glitter paper! This is a great way to get the same effect but using any embossing powders you already own!

I also stamped the rest of the sentiment from the Hero Greetings Occasions set on a piece of Hero Hues Dove White Cardstock with Raspberry Jam ink before trimming it down to a thin label. I arranged all the pieces of the cake and adhered them together before adding the sentiment. I finished by adhering everything to my A2 panel and adding a thin layer of Crystal Clear Lacquer to the horn and centers of the flowers. It's super sparkly and glittery but elegant enough for your unicorn-loving adult friends! ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by and have an amazing rest of your week!

This is adorable, I just love the unicorn cards!

Cheryl Cain,

Hi Jessica, I love how the gold embossed “Happy” brings out the flowers and ties it all together. I always forgot about embossing die cuts sentiments, thanks for the reminder. Happy Crafting Everyone!
