Hello there, Michelle here and today I have two birthday cards to share with you for the current "Another Year Older" Stay Crafty Challenge. For my cards I am using Clear Embossing Powder for the background, but changing up how it looks depending on which stage I add the embossing.
I started off my first card (the green/blue one) by taking a panel of Deluxe Smooth White cardstock and adding ink blending to it with Large Ink Blending Brushes and Reactive Inks. I started off at the top with Key Lime Fizz, followed by Splash, Blue Hawaii and then finished with Purple Galaxy at the bottom. I then set it aside to dry.
Whilst it was drying, I took the happy birthday die from the Birthday Stamp & Cut XL set and die cut it three times from white cardstock. They were layered up one on top of another, adhering with Precision Glue. I also die cut some stars using the Star Confetti Fancy Die and the Glitter Paper Basics pack (just the white).
I prepped my ink blended panel with anti-static powder and then stamped Candles Bold Prints on top with Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied Clear Embossing Powder and heat set. This gives a lovely shiny watermark look and perfect for a subtle background! The sentiment and stars were then adhered on top using more Precision Glue.
For my second card, I wanted to have the candles a little more on the bolder side, so I stamped them first on to a panel of Deluxe Smooth White cardstock with Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied Clear Embossing Powder and heat set. This traps the white cardstock underneath and when I add the ink blending on top, the lines stay white.
For the ink blending, I used Reactive Inks Inks in Lemon Drop, Creamsicle and Fruit Punch. I wiped off the excess ink off of the embossing with a dry cloth. I die cut three more white happy birthday die cuts, but this time, I felt that the white got lost on the background, so I cut a fourth layer from Pitch Black Cardstock. The stars were cut from Glitter Paper Holiday Sparkle (gold).
As you can see, two different looks from the same embossing powder. Which do you like best?
