Watercolored Holiday Reindeer

Hello everyone. It's Dana here with you today. The new Hero Arts Holiday Reindeer has to be one of my all time favorite Fancy Dies. This die is small enough for your 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cards but will also work with your larger 5" x 7" cards. Let's get into how I created this card.

To begin, I die cut the Holiday Reindeer four times and the scarf two times from Luxe White Watercolor Paper. I set three of the reindeers to the side and started watercoloring just one of them. By mixing Hero Arts White, Cocoa and Dandelion Liquid Watercolors, I was able to create custom colors for my reindeer. By changing the ratio of water to paint, I was able to add depth to my reindeer. I also added a little bit of a white gel pen to his eyes for some sparkle.

While my reindeer was drying, I watercolored one of the scarves by mixing Indigo and Black Liquid Watercolors to get the perfect shade of blue. Once completed it was time to set the scarf aside and work on the background.

To keep the blue theme going, I trimmed a piece Adriatic cardstock to 4" x 5 1/2". Using Nautical ink, I stamped the beautiful new Starry Moon Bold Prints. These two blue shades worked perfectly together. Now it was time to assemble the card and add a sentiment.

I adhered all the reindeers to each other using Hero Arts Precision Glue. Next, I adhered the two layers of scarves together also using the Precision Glue. By using my favorite Hero Arts Dove White Side Folded Cards, I built my card by adhering the background to the base. Before adhering the reindeer, I stamped a sentiment from the Holiday Season Messages Bundle in Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink and heat set it with White Detail Embossing Powder on an additional piece of Adriatic cardstock. Using the coordinating dies for the Holiday Season Messages, I die cut the sentiment and adhered it to the card base. Lastly, I adhered my holiday reindeer and neatly tucked his scarf under his chin.

This is truly one of my favorite holiday cards for this season. Make sure to visit the Creative Team's blogs (links in sidebar) to see some amazing cards using the Holiday Reindeer Fancy Die. Thanks for stopping by today. Have a wonderful day!
