Ink Blended Holiday Tree Gift Tag Set

This month’s Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge is all about creating holiday tags. Simple or elaborate, handmade gift tags are a thoughtful and beautiful addition to any holiday gift. I’m using this month’s challenge to make a set of eight, easily mass-produced tags using a few of my favorite holiday stamps and dies.

To make my set of tags, I started by blending inks from the Floral Palette Reactive Cubes set and inks from the Sea Palette Reactive Cubes set onto two pieces of Dove White cardstock using several Ink Blending Brushes. Because I planned to stamp a background stamp onto the panel, I made sure that the inked area was at least six inches square. It’s helpful to add an extra inch of cardstock to one side of the panel so that you can hold it for easier inking and stamping.

Once the blended ink panel completely dried, I stamped the charming Candy Canes Bold Prints background with Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink onto the panel and then heat embossed the stamped pattern with White Embossing Powder.

Next, using the tree die from the Graphic Lines Holiday Frame Cuts set, I die cut four trees from each of the two embossed panels. I also used the same die to cut eight tree trunks from small scraps of Chestnut cardstock. I trimmed any excess cardstock from the top of each trunk with scissors. Then, I used Precision Glue to secure each brown trunk over the trunks of the die cut trees for a more realistic appearance.

To make the tags, I cut eight, traditional tags from white cardstock using one of the Tag Infinity Dies. Next, I glued each tag to a larger rectangle of Adriatic, Amethyst, Lavender, or Nautical cardstock. I trimmed the excess cardstock from the tag corners with scissors. Using two sentiments from the Graphic Lines Holiday set, I stamped a message along the lower edge of each tag. Then, I secured a tree to the center of each tag with foam tape.

To finish each card, I stamped a few small stars, from the same stamp set, around each tree. I also die cut eight small Mustard stars with one of the 5-Point Stars Infinity Dies and then glued one to the top of each tag, behind the top of each tree. I used a hole punch to punch a small hole at the center of the stars. I finished each tag with black cording or a big, white bow.

I hope that you’re inspired to use this month’s theme to create a tag or two, or even a set, for your holiday wrapping.

There’s still time to join the current holiday tags challenge. Entries can be submitted until Thursday, December 9th at 5:00 pm PT to be eligible for the $50 gift card giveaway. And, if you share your projects on social media, we’d love it if you’d use the #staycraftywithhero hashtag.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Wishing you a wonderful, crafty day!

Wonderful use of the Bold Print stamp for background/die cutting. I ordered the Bold Print stamp. Subscription kit & extras are expected to arrive Mon. In the meantime I made some tags using HA Holiday Mittens stamp/die.
