Good morning! Jess here to share a card using the Joseph's Coat technique with the Sugar Skulls set and ombre ink pads!

This is an old technique but one that I think gets forgotten and I really love the results you can get with it! :) To start I stamped the inside patterns of the skulls from Sugar Skulls using the Pink to Red Ombre Ink Pad and the Pool to Navy Ombre Ink Pad . Then I stamped over the patterns with Versamark and heat-embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder . Next I stamped the skull outlines from Sugar Skulls with Versamark and heat-embossed those with White Embossing Powder . Next I stamped the flowers with the same ombre ink pads, heat-embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder and then stamped the flourishes and heat-embossed those with White Embossing Powder .
Then it was time for the scary part. Well, not really scary but a little unnerving! I took my Intense Black Ink Pad and swiped it all over the panel until it totally covered the cardstock. The design will pretty much disappear at this point but don’t panic! Once it was totally covered I took a paper towel and carefully rubbed the embossed area. Any area that is covered with embossing powder resists the ink and wipes off to reveal the ombre design. I love how the ombre pattern really pops against the black background! I set the panel aside to dry completely while I worked on the rest of the card.
While that was drying I stamped the hat from Sugar Skulls onto black cardstock with Versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder before die-cutting it with the coordinating dies . I also stamped the sentiment on white cardstock and trimmed it to a fishtail banner. Then I swiped the Ombre Pink to Red Ink Pad over the edges of an A2 panel to create a background for my black panel. Once it was totally dry I trimmed the black panel down to 4" by 5.5" and adhered it to the pink ombre background. I adhered the hat and banner with foam mounting tape and finished the card with a sprinkling of Ombre Blush Sequins !

Even though I’m not into skulls, I loved your card. Nicely done
I’m not big into skulls but I absolutely LOVE this card!! That sentiment with the skulls is so perfect and this technique just seems so fitting as well. I’ve seen this technique done but haven’t ever tried it but I think I really should give it a try. Thanks for reminding us of a forgotten/seldom used technique. I love when people do that!!
