Need a little pick-me-up to power through the week? I’ve got just the thing—a bright and cheerful card that’s sure to make you perk up! Hi, it's Rachel Kleinman here, and I’m excited to share a fun, espresso-inspired project that will give your creativity (and your day) the perfect boost.
I've had this layered rainbow stencil idea in my brain for a while, and I'm sooo happy with the results! The Delft Floral Stencil from the new What's Brewing collection is perfect for this technique. So get out all of your ROYGBIV shades because we are going to rainbow stencil every single layer. Here's how...
First, place your Layer 1 stencil on your Smooth White Cardstock panel. Then blend from the top left corner toward the bottom right corner in rainbow (ROYGBV) order. You want to select the lightest shade of each color for this first layer. So, in order of rainbow appearance, layer 1 uses the following inks: Fruit Punch, Creamsicle, Lemon Drop, Key Lime Fizz, Pool Party, and Thistle.
Now it's time to remove your first layer stencil and align your Layer 2 stencil on top of the panel. You are going to use the medium shade of each color for this middle layer. So, in ROYGBV order, the inks used for Layer 2 are: Cherry, Papaya, Dandelion, Green Hills, Paradise, and Orchid.
And now for the final layer! Remove Layer 2 and carefully line up Layer 3 on your panel. For your third and final layer, you will use the darkest shade of each color. So, for the last time, in ROYGBV order I used the following inks: Cranberry, Pumpkin, Butter Bar, Fresh Lawn, Aegean, and Amethyst.
Now you have your final blended stencil panel! The look is quite subtle, but I also stamped the panel with some of the coffee splatters from the Bring Coffee stamp set, inked in Unicorn White Pigment Ink. Now it's time for the teacup! I die cut the large teacup from the Coffee or Tea Stamp & Cut set out of Pitch Black cardstock.
I knew my teacup had to have some flair to match that incredible background. I used just Layer 2 of the Delft Floral Stencil aligned to the side of the teacup, and added Pearl White Hero Paste using my Palette Knife.
To finish off the card, I used Intense Black Ink to stamp two different sentiments from the Perk Up Stamp & Cut set. I have the "perk up" sentiment as the steam rising from the teacup, and the "you got this" as the main sentiment on the bottom. I trimmed the panel ever so slightly on each side and glued it to a Pitch Black card base. Now the card is all finished!
