Starry Slimline Card With Stair-Step Effect

Hola everyone!! Pocono Pam here with my take on the current Stay Crafty With Hero Challenge - slimline holiday cards.

Slimline cards have been around for a while, but they are making a strong comeback and we are having soooo much fun with this trend.

A typical slimline card measures 4 1/8” x 9 1/2”. However, any long and narrow card that fits into a business envelope is considered slimline.

For my holiday slimline card, I kept my measurements simple. I cut a piece of Antique Ivory cardstock to 8” x 9”, folded it in half, creating my slimline card base measuring 4” x 9”. I wanted the “stair-step” effect for my slimline card. For this, I first cut Adriatic, Paradise, Mist and Arctic cardstock all to 3 1/2” x 8 1/2” each, creating panels.

I then assembled 4 of the medium stars from the 5-Point Stars Infinity Dies onto the center of the Adriatic cardstock panel and cut out a star. In doing so, I also created additional stars I can use on future cards/projects.

I then removed the largest die and centered the remaining stars onto the Paradise cardstock panel. I repeated this step again, removing a star each time, onto the Mist and Arctic cardstock panels.

Once all of the panels were cut, I glued them together creating the “stair-step” effect. On an acrylic stamping block, I diluted White Glimmer Metallic Ink with water and used a small paint brush to flick shimmer on the panel.

I then die cut additional stars and “painted” the remaining glimmer onto them. Next, I adhered the stars on the panel along with a few sequins from the Winter Sequins Mix. I adhered the completed panel onto the card base.

To complete the card, I stamped a sentiment from the Comfort and Joy Messages clear stamp set with Intens-ified Black Ink onto a 3/4” x 1 3/4” piece of Antique Ivory cardstock and matted it with Paradise cardstock.
