Video: Layering Stamps and Gradations Featuring the January 2022 My Monthly Hero Kit

Hello, friends! Today I created a Valentine card featuring the new January My Monthly Hero Kit ! This kit includes a beautiful layering stamp set and in this video I share one of my favorite techniques for adding depth and realism to your stamped images.

To create this card I started with stamping the tree branch. I first positioned the base stamp for the leaves in my MISTI. Then I applied Taffy and Fruit Punch Reactive Inks to the stamp with blending brushes and then stamped onto Dove White cardstock. The blending blushes create gradations over the stamp resulting in a soft smooth ombre look. I repeated this process until I achieved my desired intensity of color.

Next I positioned the second stamp for the leaves (the detail layer) in my MISTI and partially inked up the stamp with Rose Madder and Crimson Bold Inks. I was careful to add the Rose Madder ink to the stamp in the same area of the image where I had previously stamped Taffy and Crimson where I stamped Fruit Punch . After I had stamped the detail layer for the leaves I positioned the detail layer for the branch and stamped that in Fog Reactive Ink.

Once I had finished stamping the branch I die cut it with the matching die and repeated the whole process to create a second matching branch.

With the branches finished I stamped and gold heat embossed a swing and sentiment. Then I die cut the swing out with the matching die and fussy cut the sentiment.

Next, I ink blended the front of an A2 top-folding Dove White card base with Taffy and Fruit Punch Reactive Inks. After I ink blended the card front I sprinkled water over the card front to add water spots which creates an ethereal look.

When the card base was dry I finished my card by adhering all the images and sentiment with foam adhesive.
