Video: Quick Stenciling with Custom Colors

Good morning! Jess here with a quick video sharing a stenciled card using the new Something Magical stamp and Winged Pegasus stencil !

I have a secret to admit…I’m a little afraid of stencils. For a long time I struggled with using intricate stencils because I’d always end up getting paste under the stencil or get really uneven coats. So finally I did a little ‘googling’, discovered repositionable spray adhesive and boy is it a game changer! I have started spraying it on the back of all of my stencils, allowing it to dry, and then placing them back in the plastic sheets the stencil came in for storage. Once dry it doesn’t leave a residue on your cardstock, it won’t tear the cardstock when you remove the stencil, and it creates a strong seal to make sure the paste stays where it belongs! And you can wash your stencil and the adhesive will stay sticky for future use. And if you spray the stencil with Ultra Clean stamp cleaner the adhesive comes right off!

You Are Something Wonderful by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero Arts Okay, done with the PSA…back to my actual card! ;) I started by stamping the Something Magical sentiment with Grape Juice ink onto a panel of Snow layering paper and then I placed the Winged Pegasus stencil over the cardstock and pressed down to adhere it. Then I smooshed Wilted Violet Distress Ink onto my craft mat and mixed it with clear glimmer paste to create a lavender glimmer paste. I prefer to keep clear or white embossing pastes, glimmer pastes, etc. in my craft room and just create custom colors with ink pads! I applied a thin layer of the glimmer paste and then removed the stencil. I let it dry and then adhered the stencil again so that I could stencil the horn. I applied gold metallic glimmer paste for the horn, removed the stencil, and let it dry. Once it was dry I trimmed the panel down and adhered it to Iris layering paper from the Floral Mix Layering Paper set . Finally I added a few metallic gold sequins to finish the card!

If you’ve ever been intimidated or scared by stencils I hope I can inspire you to give them a try again! ;) Thanks so much for visiting and have a great day!
