Video: Quick Watercolored Cards

Hey there, and happy Monday! Today I'm sharing two quick watercolored cards using the Welcome Neighbor stamp set.

The quirkiness of the houses lend themselves to quick, one layer cards and fast watercoloring! Watch how I did so in the video below...

If you have trouble with the video above you can try this link HERE to watch in HD on YouTube.

For the first card, I stamped my focal point house in Grape Juice , and then stamped the rest of the row houses in Summer Sky . Since I was moving quickly, I heat set the purple house before watercoloring, to prevent the ink from bleeding.

The blue is a light Indigo wash, and the windows a light Purple wash. I also made a light wash background for my sentiment, for a little more visual interest. The sentiment, Handwritten Grateful , was stamped in Grape Juice.

For the second card, I stamped another house in Grape Juice , heat set, and colored with the same colors, along with a touch of Deep Ocean . I added a slight bit of dimension (but not enough to require extra postage) by die-cutting the stamped house and another piece of cardstock, and then adhering them together.

I stamped some clouds in Soft Sky behind the house, and then adhered the house to the card base. The sentiment, with an addition from Support Love Prayers , was stamped in Deep Ocean .

I used the beautifully white Radiant White cardstock for both cards - it works perfectly fine for very little bits of watercolor. You'll be able to tell when there's too much water or you're brushing too much when the paper starts pilling.

Delightul CAS cards. Loved the idea of stamping the sentiments on scrap paper to get the right fit and also adding the watercolor patch before stamping the sentiment on the first card. Simple yet effective. Thanks for sharing.
