Country Road Inspiration Ideas with Rachel Alvarado

Hello crafty friends!  It’s Rachel Alvarado from RachelAlvaradoDesigns.com, and I have a few projects to share with you today that feature products from the gorgeous new Country Road Collection by Annie Williams.

Rustic Greeting Card

For my first project, I created an A2-sized card featuring items from the Rustic Garden, Garden Builder, and Seasonal Décor Etched Die Sets.  For both my large wagon wheel and barrel, I die-cut my lighter pieces from some Portobello Cardstock and lightly blended them with Gathered Twigs and Ground Espresso Distress Inks to add some shading.  I then cut the darker pieces from a piece of Timber Cardstock and adhered them all together.

I die-cut the rest of my images from other pieces of colored card stock and added some highlights with a white gel pen.  For my background, I trimmed a piece of Pink Sand Cardstock to 4.25” x 11” and scored it at 5.5” along the long side to form a vertical, top-folding A2 card base.  I then layered this piece with a 4” x 5.25” piece of Snowdrift Cardstock as well as one more ink-blended layer that measured 3.75” x 5”.  For my background sky, I used a blend of Saltwater Taffy and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Inks.

Floral Garden Wheelbarrow Card

For my second card, I created a simple floral garden wagon card featuring both the Country Wheelbarrow and Garden Builder Etched Die Sets.  My card is a standard horizontal A2-sized card measuring at 5.5” wide x 4.25” tall.  For my base, I used a piece of Raindrop Cardstock.  I layered it with a 5.25” x 4” piece of Snowdrift Cardstock that I had lightly blended with some Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Inks.  I used some diluted Copic Opaque White Paint to add some white ink spatters and a blue Copic Marker to add some dotted texture.

I stamped my sentiment from the Welcome Sign & Sentiments Clear Stamp & Die Set prior to adding my images.  I die-cut some foliage and flowers from a variety of colored card stock pieces and added them to both the inside and outside of my wheelbarrow.

For my wheelbarrow, I once again used some Portobello and Timber Cardstock pieces that I had lightly ink blended (using the same inks as the card above) in order to add some depth and shading.

3D Garden Box Card

For my last project, I created a 3D garden box card featuring the Rustic Garden and Garden Builder Etched Die Sets as well as the Welcome Sign & Sentiments Clear Stamp & Die Set.  I first created my box base by trimming two pieces of white card stock to 6.75” long x 1” tall.  I then scored them along the long side at both ½” and 2 ½”.  I folded each strip along the score lines and used the ½” tabs to adhere the pieces together to form a box base.  Next, I added a 4 ¼” wide x 4 ½” tall piece of Raindrop Cardstock to the back of my card and layered it with a 4” x 4 ¼” piece of Smooth White Cardstock as well as a 3 ¾” x 4” piece of white card stock that I had blended with both Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Inks (similar to the background of my card above.)

To create the inner shelves of my card, I trimmed 4 pieces of white card stock to 5” wide x ¾” tall and scored each of them at 3/8” from each end to form tabs to glue to the insides of my box card.  Next, I added a fence to the sides and front of my card that I had cut from white card stock using the garden fence dies from the Rustic Garden Etched Dies Set.

I then added my décor and garden elements that I had die cut from colored cardstock.  I absolutely love the sign and how versatile it is!  The Welcome Sign & Sentiments Clear Stamp & Die Set comes with so many different options that make it able to be used for a variety of occasions all year round.
