Create a Shaped Slimline Card | Spellbinders Live

Join Kim Kesti in the Creative Classroom to get the skinny on Spellbinders Slimline dies . In today’s video, Kim creates an elegant shaped slimline card that’s easier to make than you think!

How do you make a shaped slimline card? Trim cardstock to be 8.5x7"and fold it in half to create an 8.5x3.5" card base, just as you would create a traditional slimline card. Next, lay the slimline outline die just  over the folded edge of the cardstock and die cut so that it creates small hinge points where the die hung over the fold. See? We told you it was easier than you thought! What other shaped dies are in your collection that you could create a shaped card with?

Once the card base is ready, it’s time to decorate. Kim added a beautiful, inky, aqua glow to the base layer of her card. Then, she die cut and adhered the detail cut layer from Teal Topaz cardstock ( Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue is perfect for this).

Next, it’s time for a sentiment. Whether you’re a stamper at heart, or you love to hot foil with the Glimmer Hot Foil System , Spellbinders has the perfect sentiment for all of your handmade cards. Essential Sentiments Clear Stamps  or Essential Glimmer Sentiments  have all the sentiments you’ll need to create a variety of cards. Kim hot foiled a simple Congratulations sentiment and die cut it to fit right into the center of her card.

The perfect embellishment for this card is floral accents die cut from the Mini Blooms and Sprigs Dies  in shades of yellow and cream. Kim finished off her card with Color Essential Gems to add a little bit of sparkle.
