March 2022 Embossing Folder of the Month Kit – Card Inspiration with Annie Williams

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of projects using the March Embossing Folder of the Month Kit from Spellbinders. With its beautiful floral pattern and large size, the Garden Path Embossing Folder is perfect for tons of different techniques and occasions.

Sometimes the easiest techniques make the prettiest cards.  Here I sanded white-core cardstock to create a soft and subtle background for this pretty hello card.

• Trim a piece of aqua white-core cardstock to 4” x 5.25” and emboss it using the Garden Path Embossing Folder.
• Lightly sand the raised edges with a sanding block to bring out the design.

• Die-cut white cardstock using the Small Circle Outer Rim and Insert dies from the Fluted Classics Circles Die Set.
• Die-cut yellow, Mirror Gold, and Rainforest Cardstock using the flower and leaf dies from the Kaleidoscope Floral Slimline Die Set.
• Apply Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Be Bold Glimmer Sentiments and Mini Everyday Sentiments Plate Sets and the Glimmer Hot Foil Machine.
• Cut the sentiments out using the coordinating dies.

• Adhere the embossed panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive.
• Add the die-cut circle to the card front with more foam adhesive and pop the sentiments and flowers up around it.

The cute images in the Spring Gnomes Stamp Set were begging to be added to a floral landscape, so I created a little hobbit hole for this fun Easter gnome to play in next.

• Trim pieces of Pink Sand and white Cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5”.
• Die-cut the center out of the white panel using the Medium Oval Outer Rim die from the Fluted Classics Oval Die Set
• Emboss both panels with the Garden Path Embossing Folder, placing the panels in the same place both times to ensure a continuous design when layered.

• Stamp the images and sentiment from the Spring Gnomes Stamp Set onto white cardstock with black alcohol-friendly ink.
• Color the images with Copic markers and cut them out using the coordinating dies.
• Die-cut Rainforest Cardstock using one of the hill dies from the Color Block Scenic Scape Die Set.

• Adhere the pink panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner and add the hill to the card front with liquid glue.
• Pop the white embossed frame up on top with foam adhesive.
• Add the colored images and sentiments to the scene with more foam adhesive.

With such beautiful floral images, I wanted to try coloring the entire panel embossed with the Garden Path Embossing Folder next.  Here I used metallic markers and gilding wax to create a fun embossed metal look.

• Trim a piece of Onyx cardstock to 4” x 5.25” and emboss it with the Garden Path Embossing Folder.
• Color the entire panel using metallic markers, leaving the outlines of most of the images black.
• Lightly rub silver gilding wax over the entire panel with a finger or blending tool for an overall metallic appearance.

• Die-cut Mirror Silver and Onyx Cardstock with sentiment dies from the Layered Mix & Match Sentiments and Just A Tweet die sets.
• Adhere the sentiment to its outline layer with liquid glue.

• Mat the embossed panel with Mirror Silver and Onyx Cardstock and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with a tape runner.
• Pop the sentiment up in the center of the card front with foam adhesive.
• Add Silver Mix Gems to embellish.
