This week, Carly Tee is joining us with video tutorials featuring her Beary Sweet Holiday designs and lots of clever ways to put them to use. From easy techniques to interactive cards, there’s something new to inspire your Halloween crafting each day.
Today, Carly is taking a closer look at the Candy Wrappers Stamp & Cut and sharing six different ways to use it. With candy wrappers, sweet treats, label elements and sentiments all in one set, there are so many possibilities for mixing stamping and die cutting. Take it away, Carly!
Hi Crafty Friends! Carly here, and I am so excited about the Beary Sweet Holiday Candy Wrappers Stamp & Cut! The set includes candy wrappers, candy, label elements, sentiments and more, so it is absolutely bursting with creative potential.
I’ve got six ideas to share today, from super-simple stamped backgrounds to designs that combine stamping, die cutting, vellum and glitter. Check out the video below to see all six ideas and then keep reading for a closer look!
1. Stamp Just the Wrappers
You don’t always need to fill the candy wrappers! Try stamping the outline images by themselves for a subtle background or design element. I love how the simple black outlines add interest without competing with the focal point.
On my sweet birthday wishes card, I stamped several wrappers around the edges and let some extend off the card panel. The open designs leave plenty of white space while still carrying the candy theme throughout the card. A pink "sweet "die cut makes an easy focal point, and a little sparkle adds just enough shine.
2. Add Die-Cut Candy
Take those stamped wrappers one step further by adding colorful die-cut candy from the Candy Kebob Halloween Add On Die Set. Combining the simple stamped outlines with dimensional die cuts is an easy way to add color and texture without needing to color all of the stamped images.
For my Sweet hugs card, I paired stamped wrappers with small peppermint-style die cut candies. The mix of flat stamping and dimensional paper pieces gives the design lots of interest while keeping the overall look clean and playful.
3. Mix Stamping, Die Cutting & Coloring
The wrapper images are also perfect little spaces for experimenting with different techniques. Instead of filling every wrapper the same way, try combining stamped elements, die-cut pieces and coloring on one card.
On my You’re the Sweetest card, some of the wrapper images are filled with colorful die-cut treats, while others use stamped details. Mixing the different elements makes each piece of candy a little different and creates a fun assortment across the card.
4. Create a Candy Background
Instead of using the wrappers individually, turn them into a background! Stamp several wrapper images together to create a border, strip or pattern, then layer your favorite die-cut candies on top.
This is a fun way to get more mileage out of the larger wrapper images while still letting the smaller candy dies shine. You can keep the stamped background simple and monochromatic, then bring in your Halloween colors with the die cuts for an easy mix of pattern and dimension.
5. Add Glitter to Stamped Candy
Of course, I can’t resist a little sparkle! Double-sided adhesive makes it easy to add glitter to your stamped candy while still letting the stamped details show through.
I used this idea to create a simple all-over candy pattern in shades of pink, purple and orange. The black stamped outlines keep the design crisp, while the glittery centers add color and sparkle. With the You’re the Sweetest sentiment stamped right into the background, this idea makes a fun one-layer-style card with an extra-special finish.
6. Stamp & Die Cut Wrappers from Vellum
For one more way to change up the look of the wrappers, try stamping and die cutting them from vellum. The translucent paper gives the wrappers a look that feels especially fitting for candy packaging!
Layer colorful die cut candy over the vellum wrappers to create sweet little embellishments for cards, tags and other projects. The vellum softens whatever is behind it while the stamped outline keeps the wrapper shape defined—a simple switch in material that gives the same stamps a completely different look.
So Many Sweet Possibilities with Beary Sweet Holiday!
Thanks, Carly! We love seeing how one set can go from simple stamped backgrounds to dimensional die-cut treats, glittery accents and vellum wrappers. These ideas are also easy to mix and match, giving you even more ways to create with the Candy Wrappers Stamp & Cut.
