Birthday Wreath

I often find that certain stamps I pass over quickly become one of my favorites to use. Such is the case with the Antique Bee and Flowers. I’m not sure if it’s just that it’s a woodblock stamp, and because I store mine in drawers, they end up being rather “out of sight, out of mind.” In any case, when I did take it out to play, I had some fun.

I stamped the image in Versamark on watercolor cardstock, heat embossed it in Gold, then quickly colored it using my ZIG’s. I adhered my panel to some pink cardstock, then tied some pretty gold thread around.

The sentiment was the most complicated part of the card. I started by covering a piece of black cardstock with Versamark, heat embossing with Black Sparkle powder, then die cutting with the Circle Infinity dies.

For the sentiment, I used the “happy” from Color Layering Happy Day Flowers, and “birthday” from Birthday Messages – mixing up sentiments from different stamp sets is one of my favorite “tricks” to use. ;)

I first embossed the “birthday” in white, then masking it with a strip of washi tape slightly wider than the sentiment itself, I stamped and heat embossed the “happy.” See THIS previous post of mine on double heat embossing for more tips. You could always skip embossing the circle in black sparkle, and just go over with clear Wink of Stella after embossing the sentiments.

I hope this post encourages you to give a second look to some of your own stamps that need a little lovin’. ;)

God bless!
