Hi friends! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing some spooky-cute inspiration using some of the new products in the 2021 Holiday Catalog! I used the new Halloween Icons dies along with some other products to create this Halloween scene. Who can resist black kitties and a glowing jack-o-lantern? Let's get started with the details!
I began by die cutting the Halloween Icons from some plain white cardstock, so that I could use my Copic markers to add some color. I backed the kitty's eyes with some Copic-colored green cardstock and the jack-o-lantern with some Copic-colored yellow cardstock so that the die cuts did not have any holes. The pumpkin seems to glow, just like it would on Halloween night!
For the background, I placed the Greenhouse Fancy Die on some Pitch Black cardstock approximately where I wanted it on the finished card, because I knew I wanted to inlay the die cut in the negative space to create a window scene looking out at a night sky. I stamped the new Etched Winter Swirls Bold Prints background stamp on Lapis cardstock using Navy ink, then layered the black background and window die cut over the top of the night sky panel. I know the Etched Winter Swirls Bold Prints is technically a winter stamp, but with the black die cut over the top, the little snowflakes look like they are shooting stars in a spooky Halloween night sky!
For the greeting, I embossed a sentiment from the Graveyard HeroScape stamp set using white embossing powder on a strip of Pitch Black cardstock. I arranged the sentiment strip and the Copic-colored Halloween Icons die cuts in front of my window, then adhered them with a combination of Precision Glue and foam adhesive for lots of dimension and depth!

I love this! The swirling sky outside the window is fantastic. It makes me feel like I am in an attic looking out. Great card!
Hi Melissa – Our September kit countdown peeks will begin on Friday. The kit launches on Tuesday, September 7 at 10am PT. (Usually it would launch the first Monday of the month but this year it falls on a holiday.) We can’t wait to share!
