Color Layering Big Cats

I absolutely love both of the new Color Layering sets that have been featured this month. Maybe it’s because my son is a huge fan of big cats? The amount of stuffed tigers, lions, cheetahs and jaguars in his bedroom is borderline ridiculous! Or, maybe it’s just because they are gorgeous stamp sets, with really great messages of encouragement!

For the first card above, I played with the Color Layering Brave Lion set. I stamped the layers of the lion in Butter Bar and Pumpkin Pie inks, adding the final outline in Intense Black. The background was stenciled using Tribal Shapes Stencil in the same colors, as well as a little Caramel ink. The lion was mounted on die-cut circles. The Color Layering Brave Lion stamp set also has matching dies – popping up the die-cut lion head would take this card design a step further.

To create the tiger card, I began by adding Summer Sky ink to the background of my white cardstock. I used an ink brush, but you could also sponge it on or use a blending tool. The grass from the Color Layering Bengal Tigers set was stamped in Moss and Lime Green. The tiger himself was stamped in Tangerine ink as well as Intense Black, and then the messages were stamped in black as well. The stamped panel was mounted on a notecard from the Foliage pack, and finished with a wrap of twine. I fussy cut the tiger, as I made this card before I had the die – but the Color Layering Tiger Frame Cuts would make this task much, much faster.
