Hi everybody! It's Maria here and I am so excited to get to share a card using the Fuzzy Winter Animals set today. This set is full of beautiful animals drawn in a fun, sketchy style. I decided to use the moose and the sweet little fawn. I started by stamping them and the moon onto watercolor paper using Intens-ified Black ink. I watercolored using the Hero Arts liquid watercolors, mixing Cocoa with Dandelion and Orange until I had the shades that I wanted. After my images were dry I cut them out using the coordinating dies and set them aside so that I could work on my background.
To create my background I stamped the Etched Winter Scene Bold Prints stamp in embossing ink onto Mist cardstock. I heat embossed it in Sparkle embossing powder. This added a ton of sparkle but also allowed the blue of the cardstock to show through the embossing powder. I wanted to create a contrast to show off the beautiful whorls in the sky so I ink blended the background with Grape Slush Reactive Ink. I used heavier ink at the top and faded to a lighter application of color as I reached the trees and horizon line. I wanted the snow to be lighter than the Mist cardstock so I lightly ink blended below the horizon line with Unicorn White Pigment ink. I used a dry towel to wipe excess ink off of the embossed surfaces. To finish the background I added some detail with a white gel pen. I filled in some of the stars and added more of my own. I also traced the tops of the snow banks to give the look of snow piles and added snow to the trees as well.
I cut my finished background down to 3.75" x 5". I adhered the background to a piece of Pebble cardstock cut to 4.25'" x 5.5" (this was adhered to a card base). I heat embossed my sentiment in White Detail embossing powder onto black cardstock and cut it into a strip. After all these pieces were ready it was easy to arrange the scene and adhere my animals, sentiment and moon using foam tape.
These two stamp sets combine to make such a beautiful scene and this card was surprisingly easy to put together. I hope you might feel inspired to try something like this next time you make a winter card!

Hi Maria! Every time I see the Etched Winter Scene background stamp used, I think it is so unique & the way you’ve coloured the swirls with the purple makes it just come alive. I would be so happy to be able to add this stamp to my craft room.
