Interactive Spinner Card Tutorial | June '26 My Monthly Hero

Hi friends, it's Mindy! I always look forward to creating with the Hero Arts kits because they feature such fun and creative themes each month. When I saw the June 2026 My Monthly Super Hero Ki t , I immediately thought of those relaxing summer days spent floating around in a pool.

Pool Interactive Spinner Card

To capture that carefree summer feeling, I created an interactive spinner card that gives the illusion of the girl on her float tube twirling across the water. It's a playful design that combines ink blending, die-cutting, and a simple interactive element for a card that's full of summer vibes.

To set the scene, I started by creating the pool background using the Reflection Layering Stencil and blending Cornflower, Summer Sky, and Indigo inks. The layered blues create the look of sunlight reflecting across the water, while splatters of White Acrylic Splatter add extra texture and help enhance the watery feel of the scene.

Instead of centering the pool on the card front, I trimmed it out and positioned it coming in from the top corner of a Cosmic Sky card panel. I love how this off-center design feels a little more playful and helps draw your eye into the scene. The Cosmic Sky cardstock also coordinates beautifully with the colors in the ink-blended background.

For the die-cut pieces, I used a combination of colors from the kit and my own cardstock stash, including Tutu, Dahlia, Peridot, White, Beeswax, and Fawn. These bright summer colors were perfect for bringing the scene to life and creating a cheerful poolside vibe .

The interactive element is the star of this card. While similar spinner cards are often created using a penny, I opted to use a Pear Blossom Snap 'N Slide , which makes the assembly process much simpler. You'll need a few additional A2 white cardstock panels to build the layers that create the spinner mechanism, but it's an easy way to add movement and fun to your card design.

To finish everything off, I added a sentiment from the Super Hero Kit and adhered all of the elements in place. The finished card perfectly captures those lazy summer days spent floating in the water and enjoying the sunshine.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope this project has inspired you to create your own interactive summer cards using the June 2026 My Monthly Hero Kits. If you'd like to see exactly how this card came together, be sure to watch the video tutorial for all of the details and tips along the way.
