Another Kids Monster Kit Peek + Giveaway!

Happy Friday! Thanks for your outpouring of enthusiasm and wonderful comments about yesterday's Kid Monster Kit sneak peek. We are counting down the hours until we get to reveal everything that's packed into the kit on Monday! During these times of distance learning, we hope the kit will provide you and the young people in your life many happy hours of engaging, playful and educational fun. You can pre-order the Kids Monster Kit starting Monday, September 21 at 10am PT. Once sold out, the kit will be gone. The kit and any items ordered with the kit will ship together starting October 9, at the same time as our upcoming October My Monthly Hero Kit.

Now it's time to take a peek at one of the fabulous projects Debi has created with the kit...

Hi friends! I’m Debi Adams and I’m popping in with another sneak peek and twist to the NEW Monster Kit for kids. These super fun images are fantastic for creating a variety of projects. Having a preschool teacher in the house actually made coming up with ideas, a walk in the park, and once my brain started moving in the right direction, I couldn’t stop. Hopefully you will check out the additional projects being featured in the coming days by our other talented designers.

Today I’m sharing a quick and easy activity using the pre-printed coloring pages that come in the kit, stamped with whatever monster stamps you like. Creating a puzzle can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be just by determining the size of the pieces.

I colored in my entire sheet first and then mounted it onto a piece of poly foam, inexpensive and available at your local hobby store. This makes it easier to manipulate the segments. I trimmed it to fit the size of the page and then randomly cut out the shapes. You can sketch them out first if you like, use a wavey ruler for a design, or even use some Infinity Dies inside the design. You can adapt the complexity of the pieces to fit the age of the child. Depending on the skills of the participants, they can cut out the shapes for themselves too!

A great way to help out children who initially might struggle with where the pieces go is to place another one of the same designs down on the work surface first. This provides a “map” for location and they can navigate from there.

For additional fun, have several kids each select a different design and create a puzzle. They can then exchange them with each other. Placing them inside a 6 x 9 envelope and labeling it will keep all the puzzles together and organized. For social distancing practices, this could be a puzzle exchange via the mail instead of an in-person contact.
