Mountain Scene Stencil Card with Only Two Inks

Hey there friends! Daniel, here, with a Mountain Scene Stencil card using only two inks. Of course, Grape Juice is my favorite Hero Arts color (and not because Libby says it has to be). I just really enjoy the depth and beauty of it and it pairs well with the song, "America the Beautiful."

To create this card, you'll need some Hero Arts supplies -- the new Mountain Scene Stencil, the Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL, a Blending Brush or two, Dove White cardstock, Grape Juice and Intens-ified Black, Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink, and White Detail Embossing Powder. I also used some Post-it Tape, a paper trimmer, anti-static powder and a heat tool.

Steps to Create this Card

  1. First, I trimmed a sheet of Dove White cardstock in two, score one half in the middle and you have a side-folding A2-sized card.
  2. Next, using the Mountain Scene Stencil, I stenciled in two mountains using a light hand near the top of the card with the Hero Arts Blending Brush.
  3. Then, I taped off the tops of the mountains and added a gradient of Grape Juice with a light hand down the front of the card about two-thirds of the way.
  4. After that, I stenciled in a large mountain with a heavy hand and more Grape Juice Ink.
  5. Then, I repeated step three, but this time, I made the base of the mountain even lighter. This created the look of mist near the base of the mountain.
  6. Next, I stenciled in a line of trees and hills using the same method, about a third of the way up from the bottom of the card.
  7. After that, I stenciled in the larger trees with Intens-ified Black Ink. I made the trees taller than the stencil cut out by brushing in the length of the trees and then moving the stencil down and stenciling them again.
  8. Then, I added a field of Intens-ified Black Ink to the foreground, a bit lighter than the trees.
  9. To finish it all off, I stamped a sentiment from the Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL in Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink and melted White Embossing Powder over it with my heat tool.

Thank you for joining me today on the Hero Arts Blog! You'll find the products I used linked in the grid below and throughout this post for your convenience. I really enjoyed stenciling in this scene and playing with the light, fog and silhouettes of this project. It'd be great to see your take on this project. Be sure to tag Hero Arts (#heroarts) when you post on the socials!

I hope you have a wonderful day!
