Saturdays with Sally: Spring into Flowers! (AND Happy Mother’s Day!)

Finally it’s Spring outside which means FLOWERS! Inspired by the blooms, today I used the Floral Envelope and Lily of the Valley woodblock stamps with the ever versatile Burlap Bold Prints for my cards. I LOVE that burlap stamp!! It makes a fast background, envelope liner, cross stitch grid, squares to punch and MORE.

Let’s start with Floral Envelope. Stamp it in black ink on a white notecard. Let dry. Cut away the bottom third of the white card. Paint with watercolors. Stamp Burlap Bold Prints in Fresh Lawn ink on Kiwi cardstock. Cut to fit on the inside of the white card and adhere. To close the card, take a sequin and brad and “tuck in” the end flap behind the sequin to keep it closed.

For the place card, cut a dark color cardstock into the size of a place card, generally 2” x 4”. I used Amethyst cardstock, and stamped the burlap pattern in Indigo ink. Take a white gel pen and cross stitch the person’s name, then embellish the placecard by mounting a colored and trimmed lily with foam tape.

Use the Fresh Lawn ink to stamp the burlap once again on a white card for a congratulations card. Cut out the tiny squares from the burlap OR punch tiny squares with a punch out of scraps. This could be a cute card for graduation with the school colors.

Another fun idea - stamp that burlap stamp out and color in each square like a mosaic… that could be meditative or keep a toddler busy!

And just a reminder - don’t forget to enter our Stay Crafty with A Blog Named Hero contest, which uses flowers this month!

May all of you enjoy your Mother’s Day wherever you may be in Mother Nature’s world of wonder!!

xoxo

Gorgeous cards and placecard, Sally! You always inspire with your designs!! Especially love the burlap background with all the bitty squares – fiddly, I’ll bet, but so eye catching!!

Linda Wetterlin,

Love these cards!
