Simple Masking Magic with Guest Artist Carly Tee Minner

We’re thrilled to welcome a special guest to the blog today—Carly Tee Minner! She’s sharing an oh-so-sweet card creation featuring the brand-new What’s Brewing collection. Take it away, Carly!

I started by stamping the cup & sentiments on white cardstock. Then I stamped the cup on a scrap of blue cardstock and used scissors to cut out the middle of the cup, making a mask. I like to use cardstock for masks because they can stand up to a lot of ink without bleeding through to my projects but many mediums would work. Sometimes it's nice to have a masking medium that has low-tack adhesive like Post-It Notes or masking paper but I also find the magnet in my stamp positioner is sufficient.

Next I placed the blue cardstock mask over my stamped panel so I could stamp the flowers and have just the bloom on the cup.

After my mug was decorated with flowers, I colored everything with Copic markers. Here are the colors I used:

• mug BG10 & BG11
• flowers R10, R21, R22 & T4
• coffee E33 & E53
  

The final touch was a few faux paint splatters, made by just dotting some black pens around.
