So confession time with Clare: I’m obsessed with Grape Juice .
No, not the actual juice, but the ink.
It’s just so darn fun! It was also the basis for tying today’s colorful card trio together.
I decided to use some bright, fun colors for my feathered friends today, so I used Cotton Candy and Rose Madder for my pinks, Passion Flower and Orchid for my purples, Soft Vanilla and Dandelion for my yellows, and my beloved Grape Juice to tie everything together.

For my peacock card, I inked up the beautiful Tropical Foliage Bold Prints background with Versamark , and then Dandelion, on some Sunshine layering paper . I then added some Sparkle embossing powder , and heat set the background.
The Color Layering Peacock was stamped in Cotton Candy, Rose Madder and Grape Juice for the tail, and Passion Flower and Orchid for the body. I die cut it twice , and adhered the two layers for extra dimension, and topped the card off with some pink gems .
For the flamingo card, I did the same inking and embossing process as with the Peacock card, except I used Passion Flower for my colored ink and some Floral Layering papers for the panel.
I used Soft Vanilla, Cotton Candy and Rose Madder for the Color Layering Flamingo body , and Grape Juice for the legs and beak. The flamingo was die cut twice , and adhered to the base with some yellow pearls.
Finally, my parrot card used a piece of Blush layering paper and Rose Madder for the background, using the same process as with the first two cards.
The Color Layering Parrot was stamped in Soft Vanilla, Dandelion, and Passion Flower, then die cut twice and adhered to the card base, and finally topped with some purple pearls.
For each card, I white heat embossed a sentiment (from their respective color layering stamp set) on some cardstock that I had custom colored with Grape Juice, to really bring the set together. Check out the video for some tips on that. ;)
I had SO much fun using some unusual colors for these birds today!
If you want to make your own color coordinating card set, I’d recommend picking a few colors (say, three), then two shades of each (particularly if you’re using Color Layering stamp sets), and then one neutral or deep (like Grape Juice) color to tie everything together.
