Video: Fall Blessings with Color Layering Autumn Tree

I haven't ever heard anyone say they don't like Fall or the Fall colors. And if you think about it - what is there not to love? Rich yellow, orange and red colors that this season brings are simply stunning and they inspired this simple Autumn card.

Watch the video tutorial below to learn how I made this card:

If you’re having a problem viewing this video, please try watching it HERE in HD on YouTube.

I started working on my project by stamping the tree and it's leaves using images from the Color Layering Autumn Tree stamp set . I trimmed a white cardstock panel to about 2 1/2 by about 3 1/2 ", positioned my stamps - the tree trunk as well as the sentiment making sure I had plenty of space for both and stamped images using my mini MISTI positioner.

I love to use Hero's ombr é inks so I picked Brown ombr é to stamp the trunk of my tree. From my card photos you might have noticed that my tree trunk is heat embossed, while I didn't plan to emboss it at first I later did add a layer of Copper embossing powder as I felt it looked much better than stamping.

This stamp set has 3 leaf layers to it. And there isn't any particular order in which these need to be stamped or any particular way these need to be aligned in. It's actually one of those ridiculously easy Color Layering stamp sets to use as you can't mess your stamping up. I picked yellow Butter Bar , orange - Dark Quartz and red Red Royal ink colors for my stamping, although the sky's the limit here. Hero Arts has the following suggested colors listed for this set - Tangerine, Just Rust and Red Royal but I think you can also easily incorporate green or light brown colors into this image. You can even make this tree into a Summer one by stamping leaves using various shades of green. Or if you stamp just the tree trunk you can turn this into a Winter tree and maybe add tiny birds sitting on its branches.

Since this card is all about Fall I added a bit of Gold and copper embossing powder treatment to the edges of my panel.

To create a background for this card I used Long Leaves stencil and Autumn ombre ink pad . I blended 2 out of the 3 colors from my ombre pad to create a multi-color background. Once I was happy with the ink blending I also added a layer of Sparkle embossing powder to help the colors pop.

Have fun stamping!

I love this card – it is beautiful. I never thought to emboss the stencil before I inked. That is brilliant
