You’re My Pick!

Good morning! Jess here with a card using one of the add-on sets from this month’s My Monthly Hero kit, Produce and Seeds, along with the beautiful Artistic Dahlia wood mount stamp.

You're My Pick by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero ArtsI colored the Artistic Dahlia using colored pencils and then die-cut it with the coordinating die. I need to remind myself to always stamp, cut, and then color in case I don’t quite align the dies correctly but I don’t think it’s too noticeable in my final card. Let my mistake be a teachable moment! ;)

Next I stamped the frame and seed banner from Produce and Seeds onto kraft cardstock with Cup o’ Joe ink. Originally I was going to offset the dahlia on my background panel and would have trimmed off the excess and thrown it away…but then I decided, why not use the rest of it to create the look of multiple dahlias. The three dahlias on the panel are from the same die-cut image. I love that it looks like I did a lot more coloring than just one flower! ;)

Then I stamped my sentiment onto Earth Layering cardstock in Eggshell with Raspberry Jam ink, trimmed it to a fishtail banner, and tucked it under the dahlia. I trimmed down the kraft panel and adhered it to a dark red cardstock that matches the darkest shade of my dahlia. Finally I adhered that panel to a cream card base with foam mounting tape.
