Debossed Snowflake Christmas Card Tutorial with Snowflake Background Etched Dies

Hello there, Michelle Short here to share a step-by-step tutorial using the Snowflake Background Etched Dies from the Lisa Horton Snowflake Kisses Collection. The Snowflake Background Etched Dies are two layers which you can cut as a base layer and a top layer. For my card today, instead of having die cut layers, I thought that I would deboss the design. DEBOSSING THE DIE

HOW TO DEBOSS THE LISA HORTON SNOWFLAKE BACKGROUND DIE, S5-764, SDS-206, S5-763
  1. Place outside/base layer of Snowflake Background Etched Dies onto a panel of Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock with the cut side facing downwards.
  2. Hold in place with Best Ever Craft Tape.
  3. Run through Platinum Six Die Cutting Machine using the following sandwich (bottom to top):
  • A Platform Base
  • B Platform Top
  • C Cutting Plate
  • Cardstock with die on top
  • C Cutting Plate

  1. Temporarily adhere the die-cut panel onto scrap paper (using removable adhesive on the back) or place it onto a sticky mat to hold in place while adding ink blending on top.
  2. Using a Large Blending Brush, apply pink ink to the top left-hand corner of the panel using circular motions to get even coverage.
Please note: The panel is sideways in the picture as it is easier for me to ink blend from the right. Move the panel into which position works best for you! HOW TO DEBOSS THE LISA HORTON SNOWFLAKE BACKGROUND DIE, S5-764, SDS-206, S5-763
  1. Add purple ink to the centre of the panel in a diagonal line. Make sure to overlap with the pink ink for a smooth transition.

  1. Add blue ink to the bottom right-hand corner, overlapping with the purple for a smooth transition.

  1. Spritz with shimmer spray.
TIP: The spray can be added before or after debossing with the die. If done before, the moisture from the spray will help to prevent any cracking of the cardstock.

  1. Set up the debossing sandwich (bottom to top):
TIP: When debossing, try not to adhere dies in place with tape where possible. Depending on how thick the sandwich is, the tape can leave debossing into the cardstock too.

  1. Run through Platinum Six Die Cutting Machine.
