Easy Die Cut Lemon Card | Spellbinders LIVE

Join Kim Kesti in the Creative Classroom as she creates with a fresh, new die set from the  Be Bold collection , called  Lemon Zest . The  Lemon Zest dies (S4-1173) include leaf dies with a unique feature. In this set you’ll find a 5-leaf cluster but also 5 extra half-leaf dies to add a highlight or shadow to the leaves. Simply die cut the half leaves using an alternate shade of cardstock and layer onto the leaf cluster to bring your leaves to life.

To add extra dimension and personality, Kim adds some simple inking to the leaves and lemons. In today’s video, you’ll see Kim work on a  Stencil Mat from Waffle Flower Crafts . This multi-function silicone craft mat features raised edges on two sides to hold cardstock and a stencil in the place. It’s also the perfect surface for Kim to blend Distress Inks onto her lemons and leaves. She uses  Mustard Seed  and  Mowed Lawn  to deepen the colors and add shading. Watch today’s video to see Kim’s trick to make the lemon’s white highlights pop. You can also see how she uses the slot at end of the lemon to attach it to the stem. The die set comes with additional stems, and blossoms to create fresh citrus bouquets and clusters. Watch video below or on Youtube : To create a bold background, Kim uses a favorite technique that begins with a white cardstock panel. Then she trims and adheres black cardstock stripes. She attached the striped panel onto a blue card base for a fresh and pretty springtime card. The only thing missing is a sentiment, so Kim uses the Many Birthdays stamp and die cutting set (coming soon!). This new set contains large script words Happy Birthday  with coordinating dies, plus other birthday sentiment stamps to combine or use on their own. This is definitely a powerhouse set that you’ll use again and again.

Kim adds the stamped sentiment to a die cut circle and then finishes off the card with die cut blossoms and Color Essential Gems. (What card is complete without a little sparkle?)
