Fun with Stamping Foam | Spellbinders LIVE

Join Kim Kesti in the Creative Classroom as she gets crafty with a fun new product that might be new to you! Spellbinders now carries  Stamping Foam  as well as the  Heat It Craft Tool , both from Ranger. Simon Hurley’s Stamping Foam, is super fun to play with and pairs perfectly with your favorite stamps, dies, and embossing folders from Spellbinders. Stamping Foam  are moldable foam pieces that allow you to create your own unique stamped textures and patterns. They’re sized perfectly to create a background for A2 sized cards. To use, heart the foam with a heat tool (like the  Heat It Craft Tool ) for 10-15 seconds. Then, press the foam into a textured surface and hold it in place for 5-10 seconds. Ink it up like a stamp, and have fun adding your own unique textures to cards and crafts. The best part? The foam can be reheated and remolded to use over and over again. In today’s video, Kim shares three different ways to use  Stamping Foam  to add colorful prints to simple handmade cards. First, she experiments with an embossing folder. Kim suggests having your textured surface nearby and ready to go, so you can press it while the foam is still hot. Be sure to watch today’s video to see this easy process in action. After Kim presses the scalloped embossing folder into the Stamping Foam to create the texture, she adds two colors of dye ink and then presses the foam onto a piece of cardstock, just like a stamp. Remember,  Stamping Foam  is reusable. Simply clean off any ink, heat again for 10-15 seconds, and watch the pattern magically disappear, leaving the foam ready for your next project.

The second texture Kim experiments with are thin metal dies. Kim arranges a set of floral dies together ahead of time and then heats the foam. She presses the warm foam into the dies and creates a beautiful floral background. For this card, Kim adds  Distress Oxide ink  over the whole surface. Because this ink is water reactive, it creates a beautiful watercolor effect when stamped onto cardstock.

Lastly, Kim uses a household texture to create a stamped background. Kim repeats the heating process and presses the Stamping Foam onto a textured decorative tray, creating a stamp of the beautiful texture. Look around your house and see what texture you can find that would make a beautiful stamp. Think about baskets, a tile backsplash, textured wallpaper, decorative dishes and glassware.

You can also use rubber stamps to add texture to  Stamping Foam . Remember that when you ink up the foam, the image you stamp onto paper will be the negative space of the original stamp, giving you a whole new array of possibilities!
