Susan’s Garden Club Collection – Floral Card Trio with Annie Williams

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of projects using the new Garden Club Collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn.  The gorgeous blooms and unique planters in this collection inspired me to create three bright and cheery floral cards featuring realistic blooms in all different vessels.

I loved the big bold blooms in the Cactus Dahlia and Ornamental Garden Pottery Die Set, so I decided to try these first.  My favorite variety of dahlia is coral-tipped and I tried to emulate this with paper on this bright thank you card.

• Die cut Barely Peach Cardstock with the flower dies from the Cactus Dahlia and Ornamental Garden Pottery Die Set. Repeat until you have enough layers for three flowers and one bud.
• Blend Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink in the center of each layer with a blending tool and then apply Abandoned Coral Distress Ink to the tips of each petal.
• Shape the petals using the tweezers in Susan’s Garden Ultimate Tool Kit and adhere the layers together with liquid glue.
• Die cut Fern Cardstock four times with the leaf dies in the Cactus Dahlia and Ornamental Garden Pottery Die Set.
• Apply Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink to the edges of all of the leaves and shape them with the leaf tool and small ball stylus in Susan’s Garden Ultimate Tool Kit.

• Die cut Waterfall Cardstock using the Pottery Die from the Cactus Dahlia and Ornamental Garden Pottery Die Set.
• Blend Salvaged Patina and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink around the edges of the die-cut to add dimension. Gently apply bronze gilding wax over the die-cut with your finger to bring out the embossed design and add an aged metal appearance.
• Apply Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using one of the greetings from the Everyday Sentiments II Glimmer Plate Set and the Glimmer Hot Foil Machine. Cut it out with the coordinating die.

• Die cut white cardstock using the Outer Frame Rim and Insert from the Deco Bloom Die Set and adhere it to a piece of Mirror Gold Cardstock measuring 5” x 7” with tape runner. Add the layered background to a top-folding A7-sized white card base with tape runner.
• Adhere the container to the bottom of the card front with foam adhesive. Arrange the blooms and leaves around the container and adhere down with hot glue or strong liquid glue.
• Pop the sentiment strip up on the bottom of the card front with foam adhesive.

One of my favorite things about this collection is the variety of fun containers to build your bouquets in and I couldn’t get over the cute boots in the Oriental Lily and Wellies Die Set.  I used patterned paper to create some cute rain boots and added a few pretty Narcissus blooms for a cheerful friendship card.

• Adhere a sheet of patterned paper from the Heart Hands Paper Pad onto heavyweight white cardstock and die cut it with the Wellies Die from the Oriental Lily and Wellies Die Set.
• Press a Versamark Ink Pad all over the die-cut, add clear embossing powder, and melt with a heat tool. Repeat once more for a thick, glossy surface.
• Apply brown hybrid ink around the edges of the glossy die-cut with a blending tool to add some dimension (you can also ink the edges of the die-cut before clear embossing if desired).

• Die cut Susan’s Garden Specialty Cardstock with the petal dies from the Daffodil/Narcissus and Antique Vase with Honey Bee Die Set. Repeat this to have enough petals for three flowers.
• Shape the petals using the loop tool from the Susan’s Garden Ultimate Tool Kit.
• Die cut yellow cardstock with the Corona and Stamen Die and Rainforest Cardstock with the leaf die in the set.
• Apply Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink to the edges of the corona, roll it up, and adhere with liquid glue.
• Roll the stamens for the flower and adhere with liquid glue. Dip the tips into liquid glue and then into Yellow Paper Flower Pollen.
• Shade the leaves with Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink and shape them with the leaf tool.

• Apply Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using one of the sentiments from the Mini Sincere Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and the Glimmer Hot Foil Machine. Cut it out using the coordinating die.
• Die cut patterned paper from the Heart Hands Paper Pad with the largest die from the Hemstitch Rectangles Die Set and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive.
• Add the rainboots to the bottom of the card with foam adhesive. Assemble the blooms and add them along with the leaves on top of the boots with hot glue.
• Pop the sentiment strip up on the bottom of the card with foam adhesive.

I loved the teapot from the Hybrid Tea Rose and Tea Pot Die Set so much that I wanted it to be the star of this next card.  With a bright accent rose and bud, this oversized square card is perfect for sending a happy hello to a friend.

• Die cut glossy white cardstock using the tea pot dies from the Hybrid Tea Rose and Tea Pot Die Set.
• Stamp the images from the Fragrant Flowers Stamp Set in blue ink onto the bottom of the pot and the edges of the lid.
• Apply Pumice Stone Distress Ink to the edges of the teapot and lid with a blending tool to add dimension.
• Add gold accents to the die cut with a gold metallic marker.

• Die cut yellow cardstock with the flower dies from the Hybrid Tea Rose and Tea Pot Die Set (enough to form one full bloom and one bud). Apply Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink to the center of each petal layer with a blending tool and shape the petals using the loop tool and tweezers from Susan’s Garden Ultimate Tool Kit.  Assemble with liquid glue.
• Die cut Fern Cardstock with the leaf dies from the die set. Apply Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink to the edges of each leaf and shape them with the leaf tool.
• Die cut Susan’s Specialty Cardstock with the Three Prong Leaf Die from the Double and Single Peonies Die Set. Color the leaf green with Copic markers and shape it with the leaf tool.

• Trim a piece of patterned paper from the Whimsical Forest Paper Pad to 5.5” square. Stamp a greeting from the Spring Quotes Stamp Set in the top right corner with Versamark Ink, add gold embossing powder, and melt with a heat tool.
• Mat the background panel with Mirror Gold Cardstock before adhering it to a top-folding 5.75” square white card base with tape runner.
• Pop the tea pot up on top of the card front with foam adhesive. Arrange the flower, bud, and leaves around the bottom of the pot and adhere them to the card front with hot glue.
