August My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #4 + Giveaway

We are back for another countdown post, leading up to the release of the August My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, August 3 at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. Don't forget to leave a comment on this post for a chance to win a kit before you can buy one! Now let's join Michelle who is sharing another beautiful look at the kit...

Hello there, this kit has such a serene and relaxing feel to it and it is perfect for those of us staying at home during this difficult time. I fell in love with the woman on the deck chair image and thought she would be perfect to create a little scene with her reading her book in the garden.

My Happy Place by Michelle Short for Hero Arts

I started off by taking a panel of Dove White Cardstock and masking off the edges. I then blended Green Apple Reactive Ink at the bottom for the grass, followed by Splash Reactive Ink above for the sky. I tried to blend out to white at the top to give a softer look. I took the sentiment from the main kit stamp set and stamped it using Intens-ified Black Ink in the sky.

I adhered the panel flat to a top folding card base. I then took the woman on her deck chair image, as well as the potted plant image from the main kit stamp set and stamped these on to white cardstock with Intens-ified Black Ink. I coloured them with Copic Markers and cut them out using the coordinating Frame Cuts that come in the kit.

I wanted the plants to look like plants growing directly in the garden, so I cut the pot part off to just show the leaves and adhered them to the bottom of the ink blending with foam tape. I then popped the woman behind them using Precision Glue.

*** Win a kit before you can buy it *** Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, August 3, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Good luck!

The peacefulness in this card is just wonderful. The way you faded out to the white in this scene immediately made me think of the same thing happening to the woman’s stress while in her sanctuary- simply fading away. 💙

Lisa Martis,

Dear Michelle
Love this card to bits as it took me down memory lane. I was a book worm before i started crafting and I used to spend hours reading like this in bed. Blessings

Surekha Galagoda,

Carmell Giacobbe,
