Saturdays with Sally: Cut it out!

Welcome to Saturdays with Sally, my monthly playtime here on the blog!

One of my favorite techniques with old stamped scraps is to do hand cut collage cards. And let's just say... I have a few scraps. Years and years worth of hoarding! Some pieces are stamped and others are painted with watercolors. I have always liked the look of hand cut art because it’s simply charming. And there's so much on Instagram and Pinterest now, it's easy to get inspired. One of my IG favorites is Lynn Giunta. Here's what she and others inspired me to make:

Simply take a piece of stamped card stock and start cutting. Begin with something simple like fruit or flowers. Randomly cut and start playing.

Use foam tape to get a lift, and add stamped words, gems, buttons, ribbons, etc. for embellishing.

I primarily used two sets for these cards and some large cling backgrounds. The great thing about this is NOTHING needs to be perfect. If you see a great piece of printed matter in a catalog or brochure, SAVE it.

I used Pearl Strings Bold Prints on both the flowers and berries.

I used From the Vault Flowers for the flower and berry background and tops. Hero Greetings Mini Messages is indispensable for tiny greetings.

You will be amazed at how easy this is, so start cutting!!

As much as I enjoy all the intricate dies and coloring image stamps we all have, it’s refreshing to be reminded just to use our scraps to create simply cut shapes that highlight some great inked prints. I find those strawberries as mouth watering as ‘realistic’ ones, and love the colors of both cards!

Marie T,

These are so much fun to look at and I’m sure much fun to create. With my vast collection of supplies, I do need to start “using it up” as they say! Thanks for the inspiration!

barbara lassiter,

Your card and tag really make me smile, Sally – so cheery with the bright colors and mix of patterns!! Perfect for summer!

Linda W. (ScrappinBari),

I couldn’t adore these more! They are delightful and inspiring! Both the flower and the strawberries would be wonderful die sets! So cute!

paperpicnic,

Great die cut creations, Sally. Your choice of paper combinations are delightful to see. tfs
