Geometric Ocean Scene

Hello, crafty friends! Seeka here and today I'm sharing a card featuring the new Graphic Reef stamp set and coordinating dies. These geometric images are perfect for a clean and simple ocean scene!

I began by selecting a few colors of Hero Hues cardstock for my images. I chose Pumpkin for the crab, Papaya for the coral, and Kiwi and Meadow for the seaweed. Using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink and White Embossing Powder, I heat embossed the images onto the colored cardstock and then used the coordinating dies to cut out each image.

Next, I cut a 4.25" x 5.5" panel of Paradise cardstock to create the background. Using an ink blending brush, I blended Ocean Dye Ink over the bottom half of the panel, concentrating the color at the bottom of the panel and letting it fade out as I moved up. The tone-on-tone shading is subtle but adds a nice bit of dimension to the background. I trimmed the panel down to 3 7/8" x 5 1/8".

To create a sandy ocean floor, I used scissors to cut a wavy line along a piece of Post-it Tape and then used it to mask off the area just above the bottom of the panel. I inked up the un-masked ocean floor with Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink, taking the ink pad directly to the cardstock. I poured Sand Embossing Powder over the sticky cardstock surface, removed the masking paper, and then melted the embossing powder with a heat gun. To finish the background, I heat embossed the sentiment in white near the top of the panel.

To assemble the card, I used adhesive dots to adhere the tall piece of coral and seaweed to the background. Next, I used foam tape to adhere the short piece of coral and the crab. Finally, I adhered the card front to a top-folding card base using more foam tape.
