Inking and Embossing Colored Cardstock

Hello! Jen Kotas here today with a card featuring the Whimsy Floral Cling Rubber Stamp and the Cluster Flower Die. One way to save time and effort when you want an inked background is to start with colored cardstock. Pick a shade you want the lightest section to be then add ink a shade or two darker fading as you blend. When I use colored cardstock, I prefer dye inks because of the way they soak into the paper.

1. Stamp the Whimsy Floral Cling Rubber Stamp on Pesto Cardstock using Embossing and Watermark Ink. Sprinkle with White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set.

2. Starting in top left corner blend on Moss Core Ink fading to right bottom corner. Add Forever Green Core Ink to corner for more depth. Wipe ink off embossing powder. Add to an A2 card base.

3. Die cut the Cluster Flower Die from Dove White, Peony and Pesto Cardstock. Keep outline for white, outline and flowers inner pieces for pink and leaves for green.

4. Blend Azalea Core Ink to pink pieces and Moss Core Ink to green pieces.

5. Add thin foam squares behind pink piece to hold in leaf and flower pieces plus pink outline. Adhere white die cut outline over it. Add to card.

6. Stamp sentiment from Special Day Butterfly Stamp Set with Moss Core Ink on Dove White cardstock. Cut out with coordinating die then cut an extra from Peony Cardstock. Adhere offset and to card with thin foam squares.

Using a large die cut piece along with a bit of dimension will help ensure it doesn't get lost among the busy background.
