May Your Season Be... All of the Things!

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today, and I have a super layered, textured, and non-traditionally-colored holiday card for you! I have been struggling to get into the "red and green" mindset for the holidays... it's just been SO warm here the last several weeks that my mind is still in summer colors! If you watched the Emmy's (or just stalked the fashion pages to see the pretty dresses, like I did), you might have noticed that pink and red was the color combo de rigeur for several of the ladies attending. I thought I'd translate that into a holiday card, adding in a pop of purple! Let's get started with the details on this uber-layered project.

I began by heat embossing the From the Vault Poinsettia stamp onto some vellum using Clear Embossing and Watermark ink and some White Detail Embossing Powder. I then used my detail scissors to fussy cut the image. Because the white embossing on the heavyweight vellum is practically tone-on-tone, I wanted that to be the focal point on a super vivid and colorful card base. I used an A2 panel of Cherry cardstock, first blending Raspberry Jam around the edges with a blending brush, then blending Grape Juice around the edges, creating a small halo in the center. I then placed the Poinsettia Stencil over the top of the blended panel and used the same colors to blend the poinsettia pattern over the top. (Layers, layers, and more layers on this project!)

Next, I die cut the Holiday Greenery Fancy Die from some Plum cardstock and adhered it to the edge of the blended panel using foam adhesive. Because the Plum is so similar to the colors on the blended panel, it almost creates a tone-on-tone textured effect! I also stamped one of the labels from the Holiday Seals by The Stamping Village, creating an ombre effect by stamping with Raspberry Jam and Grape Juice inks. I die cut the seal with the Nesting Circle Infinity Dies.

I adhered the seal to the vellum poinsettia, then hid my foam adhesive behind the solid cardstock seal to prevent it being seen on the semi-transparent poinsettia. I adhered the die cut pieces to the card front, adding some white glitter flourishes that I die cut using the Snowflake Cluster Fancy Die. The final touch was to add a few sparkly gems to finish it off!
