Roses Two Ways!

Good morning, Jessica here with two projects using the romantic Romeo and Juliet set from the 2017 Valentine’s Collection. I love the silhouette images of Romeo and Juliet but I wanted to focus on some of the smaller stamps in the set for my creations.

Roses Two Ways by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero ArtsI loved the roses in the Romeo and Juliet stamp set and wanted to use them as my focal point. I started by coloring directly on the rose heart stamp with zig clean color real brush markers and then spritzed it once with a water bottle before stamping it onto watercolor paper. I did it twice so that I could create a card and a coordinating tag.

Roses Two Ways by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero ArtsFor the tag I die-cut one piece of watercolor paper and a piece of vellum with the Nesting Tag Infinity Dies. Then I stamped the sentiment from Romeo and Juliet with Versamark and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. I also mixed gold embossing powder with a little sparkle embossing powder to create a custom glittery metallic embossing powder for the rose border.

Roses Two Ways by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero ArtsFor the card I stamped the sentiment from Romeo and Juliet onto a piece of vellum that was cut to 4.25″ by 6″ with Versamark before heat-embossing it with gold embossing powder. Then I stamped the roses along the border of the vellum and heat-embossed it with my custom embossing powder mix. Next I trimmed down the second piece of watercolor paper to 4″ by 5.5″ and adhered the vellum over it attaching it to the back of the watercolor paper so the adhesive wouldn’t show. Finally I adhered the panel to a piece of Blush Mix Layering Paper that I die-cut with the Nesting Rectangle Infinity Die. It was a little tricky to photograph the card with the vellum overlay but hopefully you can see the interesting textural contrast between the two ways of using the rose stamps! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!
