I really love making cards that are little "scenes", and my favorite stamps to do that with are animal stamps. The new Fennec the Fox stamp set was practically begging for a scene, so that's what I used for today.
I started out by blending a desert background, masking off a circle for the sun and then brushing Dandelion around for a bit of a flare. Then I used Antigua to blend the top of sky, going lighter as I moved down the cardstock, and then used some Fresh Peach for a touch of pink at the bottom.
Instead of blending desert hills, I chose to handcut some kraft cardstock and then blend a bit of Cup O' Joe at the top. For a little more texture, I mixed some Cup O' Joe with water, and flicked it onto the kraft paper. After quickly drying, I adhered the kraft strips together, and then adhered it to the bottom of the blended background.
Instead of masking out the clouds when I blended my background, I die cut the Safari Sunset Fancy Die, twice out of white cardstock, and then adhered it to either side of the blended panel. I then covered up the sides with two strips of cardstock.
Finally, Fennec! I stamped him in black, colored him with my ZIG's and some water, and then trimmed down. I stamped an accompanying sentiment (from the same stamp set) in Versamark, heat embossed in white on black cardstock, and then die cut using the speech bubble from Yes Stamp & Cut (I kind of have a thing about animals and speech bubbles ;)).
After adhering the fox and sentiment, I topped the card off with some pearls.

Love the smile on Foxies face, you have to smile back at him! It’s always good to see cards that not only use new sets but previously released items, that extend the use of those items (the safari sunset, one of my favourite dies) The colours are perfect, not so strong that they overpower the little guy with his big ears. Another lovely card from the talented Hero Arts team!
I love to see those scenes, but never make them by myself. I have to give that a try, it’s such fun to see. Thank you so much Clare for this gorgeous card.
