Shakin' It Up With A Crackin' Christmas

Hi friends, it's Lisa here today to share a shaker card which would work for Christmas, birthdays or any celebratory occasion as it involves crackers! Of course it is also always fun to create a shaker card for any celebration.

I started off by taking A Little Nuts Stamp & Cut and stamping the three cracker stamps onto some Peridot, Seaside and Blush cardstock using Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink. I applied White Detail Embossing Powder and then heat set them before cutting them out with the coordinating dies. Whilst I had my MISTI out, I also stamped the "snap" and "pop" using Intens-ified Black Ink and then die cut those out with the matching dies aswell.

Next, I took a panel of Cherry Cardstock and the Stripe Stencil. Using blending brushes, I applied Cherry Core Ink through the stencil to give a lovely tone on tone stripey effect. I then trimmed this panel down a little before taking a Nesting Rectangle Infinity Die and die cutting a window in the centre. To get a darker red window that would sit underneath the lighter red panel, I trimmed an A2 panel of Cranberry Cardstock to the same size as the Cherry piece. I then popped it under the Cherry panel and took a pencil and drew a line around the edge of the window. So, I now have a darker red panel with a pencil guide on it so that I know where to die cut the smaller rectangle. I lined up the die accordingly and ran it through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine.

I added some foam tape between these two red layers and then adhered an acetate sheet onto the back.

Next, I took the Holiday Sentiment Strips Clear Stamp Set and stamped it onto Cherry Cardstock using Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink. I applied White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set it before cutting all the sentiments out in one go with the Sentiment Strips Fancy Dies.

I put some thin foam tape onto the back of my crackers and sentiments and added them onto the top of the acetate. To give myself some height for the shaker mix to move around, I then added two layers of foam tape onto the back of the red window panels.

Next, I took a top folding A2 white note card which I created from Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock and added a pile of confetti sequins onto the card front. I removed the backing tape from the foam tape on the red panels and placed them over the sequins, trapping everything inside.

I have always loved a shaker card and have got pretty quick at making them over the years! I hope that you'll give this idea a try. Thanks so much for stopping by today!
