The Birds

When I make Halloween cards, I am typically drawn to the “cute”. Which is really no surprise – when it comes to any stamp I’m more drawn to the cute! But I was intrigued by the sophisticated look of these birds, and had to try them out as soon as I saw them! A trio of small 3″ x 3″ notecards was the perfect size to begin with.

Crows by Libby Hickson for Hero ArtsBefore using the stamps, I began by creating my watercolored backgrounds. I simply took a circle die and traced around it lightly with pencil, then painted it to create a glowing yellow moon. I added a little extra “texture” to the grass by painting inside the the Delicate Petals stencil, I really love how that turned out! And once all of the paint was dry, I added the birds and message from The Birds Stamp & Cut with my Intense Black ink.

Sophisticated and a bit spooky – I love it!
