Video: Selective Sentiment Adjusting

One thing I’ve always loved doing with my stamps is adjusting the sentiments to fit and look exactly the way I want them to. I’ll try combining different parts of different sentiments, sometimes by cutting the stamp itself, and sometimes by masking.

Today’s card is one of those tweaked sentiments, featuring the beautiful new Blessings Stamp & Cut.

To start off with, I die cut the panel using the Rectangle Infinity Dies. I then stamped the base wreath image from the Color Layering Wreath in three colors – Green Apple, Green Hills, and Lime Green. The second layer was stamped (in order) in Green Hills, Lime Green, and Fresh Lawn.

Watch the video below for more tips and the whole how-to…

(If you are having problems viewing this video, please try watching it HERE on YouTube)

I wanted to have “to you & your family” below the main “blessings” sentiment, but I was worried part of the small letters might get lost amid the bold word. To make sure the little sentiment would be legible, I masked part of the large sentiment, just a little sliver near the bottom of the “g”. I’ve pulled this little stunt with sentiments before, to make sure everything is legible and I can fit it all in. The entire sentiment was stamped in Black ink.

After the sentiment was finished, I stamped the last layer from the wreaths in Versamark, and heat embossed with Sparkle embossing powder. I stamped this last layer after the sentiment, because if I had tried stamping the sentiment on top of this embossed layer, then the odds of smudging were high. The powder is clear, so it doesn’t interfere with the sentiment, except to give it a little sparkle. ;)

Finally, I stamped a trio of bows in Strawberry, Crimson, and Red Royal, die cut them, and topped them with gems. I adhered these to the panel, and the panel to a card base.

This design could be simplified by using only one red and green, or you could use the Red and Green Ombre for multiple colors but one ink pad!

Thanks so much for stopping in and God bless!

Linda Duensing,

You got me just in my planning stage of Christmas 2017 cards. What a great card idea. I am sure I must have at least one wreath stamp, and can try this out. Thanks so much. Good idea for the G too. Have to remember that.

Karen Martens,

Great design and love that tip – thanks! And I love the clear sparkle powder !

Gab,
