3 Expert Monochrome Techniques featuring Letter Pressed Cards

Hi there my Spellbinders’ friends!  My name is Jaycee Gaspar and I’m so excited to share three cards featuring the Simon Hurley Spring Sampler Collection.  This collection features three new crafting must-haves and Simon’s existing sentiment hot foil plates.  Did you know you can use your BetterPress Press Plates in your hot foil machine? I loved using these new products to make three cards with spring themes. BetterPress Press Plates can be used in the Glimmer Hot Foil System in place of hot foil plates. This is a great way to stretch your products for other mediums if you have both the BetterPress and the Glimmer Hot Foil System.  This does not work the other way around however, hot foil plates do not work in your BetterPress platform. First up, I used the Woven 3D embossing folder to create a beautiful textured background for my card. I paired it with a monochromatic palette and a sentiment from Simon's Must-Have Sentiments Hot Foil and Die Set.

I embossed the Woven pattern on some eucalyptus-colored cardstock and reduced the panel to 3.5 by 5 inches.  I foam-mounted this panel on top of a full A2 panel of the same colored cardstock.  I used the Opaque White Hot Foil to foil the outline of the Spring Magnolias, Spring Bunnies, and the Must-Have Sentiments.  After arranging the die-cut images, I added white splatter to finish this simple single-tone card. I used the Spring Bunnies BetterPress Press Plates to gold foil the images onto watercolor cardstock.  I stuck with simple watercolor palettes and loosely colored the Easter bunnies, basket, tulips, and eggs.  After using the coordinating die cuts to cut the watercolor foiled images, I arranged them on a plain watercolor paper background.  I added drop shadows to anchor the scene.  Finally, I added gold metallic splatter throughout the panel and one of the coordinating hot foil sentiments. Finally, for my final card design, I followed the same steps as the previous Spring Bunnies card.  I used the Spring Magnolias images to make an open and asymmetrical wreath as my focal element to this card.  Again, I used gold foil to hot foil all the images in this Press Plate set.  I used the same watercolors and loose coloring techniques to color the petals and leaves of the magnolias.  After arranging the die-cut images onto a panel of watercolor cardstock, I added metallic gold speckling and centered the hot foiled Mother’s Day sentiment to the center of the wreath and panel.
