Frosted Holiday Wishes Shaker Ornament

Today we're sharing a gorgeous project from one of our friends over at A Blog Named Hero . We are so thankful for the support they give us, and the amazing creations the team creates. Hi everyone! I am so excited to be here today at the Hero Arts Blog as part of the A Blog Named Hero Challenge team! We do not have a challenge for the month of December, but I do have a project inspiration for you!

I created this tone-on-tone ornament using the Layering Snow Globe Fancy Die .

I started by die-cutting all the elements I needed to create this project. These dies are so easy to layer together to make this wonderful monochromatic ornament! I have a process video linked below. If you cannot see the video please click here.

I die-cut three pieces of the Snow Globe frame out of Dove White cardstock and one piece out of white glitter paper from the Glitter Basics pack . I also die-cut two pieces of the frame from white fun foam. Then I die-cut one piece of the first layer, which is the row of trees, then two pieces of the house and finally one piece of the snowman layer using the same Dove White cardstock . As for the clear window elements, I used a 3.25” circle die from the Nesting Circle Infinity Die set to die cut one piece of acetate and one piece from a laminating sheet. Laminating sheets have this frosted look to them which was perfect for the backdrop of the ornament.

To assemble the ornament, I first adhered the fun foam die-cut frame to one of the white cardstock frames using Precision Glue . Then I adhered small square pieces cut out from the yellow post-it, one to the back of the window of the house and one to the front of the other die-cut house piece. Then I adhered them together, layering as follows: First, the row of trees, then the house, then the snowman. I turned it over and adhered the other house die-cut, aligned it to give it a finished look at the back. Then I adhered the layered elements to the bottom half of the snow globe frame die-cut.

The die cut layers made the surface uneven so I took the other piece of die-cut fun foam frame and cut it apart to use it to even it out. I trimmed off any excess foam that was sticking out on the sides.

For the frosty backdrop of the ornament, I inked up a portion of the Hand Drawn Snowflake Bold Prints stamp with Unicorn White Pigment Ink . I placed the matte side of the circle die-cut laminating sheet on top of the inked stamp. I pressed it down firmly on the stamp to make sure the ink transferred properly. Then I set it aside to dry. Once dried, I adhered it onto another piece of white cardstock globe frame, with the matte side facing up. I added flat shaker bits before joining both sides of the ornament with liquid glue.

I stamped the sentiment “Holiday Wishes” from the Color Layering Christmas Tree stamp set on a die-cut base of the snow globe with Intens-ified Black Ink and adhered it to the bottom. As a finishing touch, I looped white and silver baker’s twine to the hand cut hole at the top.
