Adding Shine to Your Projects

Hey my crafty friends! This is Mindy with you today and I am going to be adding some serious shine to my project. This card would make a great graduation card or encouragement card.

I'm going to be using the new Large Circle Confetti Hot Foil Plate but first I need to create my background. I like to add ink to my cardstock and then do my foiling. I feel I get more shine this way.

To create the background, I'm using my gel plate and a large brayer. I apply Paradise, Bermuda and Deep Ocean ink onto the gel plate. Then smooth it out with my large brayer and pick up with a piece of Deluxe Smooth White cardstock.

I'm going to wait a little bit for the ink to completely dry – maybe about 15 minutes. You can always test if your panel is dry by applying embossing powder over it. If the embossing powder falls right off, your panel is dry. If the embossing powder sticks to your cardstock, the ink is still wet.

Once the panel is completely dry, I am going to foil it with the Large Circle Confetti Hot Foil Plate and Skybright foil which is a light blue glimmer foil. To do my foiling, I'm using my Glimmer Hot Foil System and Platinum 6 die cut machine from Spellbinders.

I can then trim this panel down using a Nesting Rectangles Die and add it to a white card base.

A fun way to personalize your card is creating your own sentiment. I'm using the new Luggage Lowercase Alphabet and more white cardstock.

I thought having "You Shine" on the front was a great way to play off of the foiling I did to the background.

I die cut each of the letters three times to create dimension and then attached to the front using Precision Glue. The liquid glue gives me a little wiggle room to make sure everything is straight before committing.

After attaching the die cut letters, I also added a small "Congratulations" underneath. This comes from the Everyday Sentiment Strips stamp set. I stamped it in Unicorn pigment ink and heat embossed with White embossing powder, then used the Sentiment Strips die to cut it out.

Another idea for this fun hot foil plate is creating an underwater scene. These could be bubbles in your background!

Hope you enjoyed today's inspiration! Thanks for stopping by!
