Awesome Add-ons: November Edition

Hi stampers, it’s time for this month’s Awesome Add-ons feature! Before we dive into the project inspiration, here’s a look at all of the add-on products that were introduced along with the November My Monthly Hero kit -- 3 clear stamp sets with coordinating Frame Cuts, 1 cling background stamp with a coordinating window flap Fancy Die, a fun DIY Ornament kit, and even a Snow & Froth technique kit...

Today we're delighted to have Debi Adams here to share some fabulous “beyond the kit” ideas for a few of the add-ons. Take it away, Debi...

Presents. Deep down I think everyone enjoys them though some prefer not to be in the spotlight when it comes to opening them. No need to worry about that here. This darling all-over Presents Background and coordinating Peek-a-Boo Doors Fancy Die, will put the recipient at ease and make the work light for the creator. It’s a win, win!

Stamp the entire image in Intense Black Ink onto a 4” x 5 1/4” white cardstock then stamp another piece of cardstock with the same image. Choose parts and pieces to die-cut from the second stamped image. Embellish the original cardstock using Lime Green Ink, brushing upwards from the bottom using a foam applicator or blending tool, leaving the top untouched. Attach stamped cardstock piece to front of A2 card using foam dots.

Color in the various gifts selected using markers. (I used Copics - R29, YG23, G07, RV04). Attach gifts to card base using foam dots.

Cut a small strip of white cardstock for “Merry Christmas” sentiment. Use pink marker to color top and red marker to color bottom. Stamp and emboss sentiment onto the colored strip of cardstock using Versamark ink and White Embossing powder. Heat set using a Heat Tool. Attach sentiment to card base with foam dots.

Wow! That was quick! How many can you make in an hour? It’s definitely an easy Christmas card to replicate for the holidays.

Moving onto gingerbread kisses and warm winter wishes! No holiday seems complete without the scents of the season. Lucky for us, we can save on the calories by stamping and creating with this sweet stamp set, “In for the Holidays.

To create this card, I randomly stamped some of the images from In for the Holidays using Intense Black Ink all over a white card then colored them in with Copic markers (BG11, E23, N3, T1, R29, YG23, G07, YR24, R21). Using a light gray marker around the designs can give the illusion of dimension to the object or to create a shadow. It’s a definite go-to in my product box. I think it makes the images pop.

Since all the stamps were pretty much centered around the gingerbread house, I chose to highlight that particular design by stamping it onto a separate piece of rectangular-sized cardstock in Intense Black Ink and matting it with black cardstock from the Midnight Mixed Layering Papers. I left a space in the middle to allow for a strip of patterned paper and then stamped my sentiment at the bottom of the rectangle using Royal Red Ink and shadowed it with a light gray marker. It all got mounted onto my card base with foam dots.

And here’s a fun little tip… Wherever there is a red strip, as in the bows and candy canes seen here, draw a line with a thin, white pen, I used a Uniball, down the center of it. It gives the appearance of a shiny object and adds just a little extra to the image.

Well there you have it! No need to mess up the kitchen. Just pull out this stamp set and get to work.
