Color Layering Iris in Vase

Hello friends! When I was a little girl my brother and I would stay at our grandparents house one week each summer and I was always amazed at my grandpa's beautiful flower garden. My grandpa has an incredible green thumb and one of my favorites was always his irises. My grandma would put the cut irises in a vase in the kitchen and I always loved them!

The beautiful Color Layering Iris stamp set creates gorgeous, realistic looking flowers and today I'm sharing how I created a "vase" for these beauties.

The Color Layering Iris was stamped on smooth white cardstock with Cornflower, Indigo, Navy, and Butter Bar inks.

The leaves and stems were stamped with Lime Green, Fresh Lawn, and Pine inks.

All the images were die cut with the coordinating Color Layering Iris Frame Cuts.

A "vase" was created by stamping the fish bowl from the Fishy Stamp & Cut set and a sentiment from the Color Layering Iris stamp set on vellum with Versamark Ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder. The back of the image was colored with Copic Markers to add "water" and the "sand" in the bottom of the vase and then die cut with the Fishy Stamp & Cut die.

A background was die cut from Hero Hues Periwinkle Cardstock using the Abstract Graphic Texture Die. The vase and flowers were adhered to the background as shown.

The background was adhered to a white top fold card base and finished with a scattering of Crystal Clear Lacquer Pen droplets.

Thank you so much for joining me today for this floral card! Until next time...

I did find a video of how to stamp this set finally. The flower is so pretty and the colors you used are great for them.

Nana Griffin,

Your card turned out so lovely. Is there a video anywhere that I can watch to see how these are layered? I am having trouble lining them up and which to stamp first. I really like the set and have messed up several trys so have been looking for a video.

Nana Griffin,

This is beautiful, Nichol. Love the blue iris and vellum vase!

Cynthia O.,

Beautiful, Nichol. I am so thankful spring is starting (hopefully) in Colorado and waiting for our iris garden to bloom. Thanks for sharing.

Kirsten,

This is a beautiful story and a beautiful card Nichol! I love the vellum for the Fishbowl Vase, very cool idea and look. Thanks for sharing this and for the inspiration. (mardy14@bellsouth.net)
