Combining Die Sets to Create a Kitchen

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing some inspiration using a bunch of the new goodies from the May 2022 release! This release features so many fun standalone die cuts, but my favorite product was the beautifully detailed Kitchen Shelf Background. This gorgeous stamp covers the entirety of an A2 card front and creates the perfect backdrop for so many of the new products! I've used it both with some simple white pearl heat embossing to create a subtle tone-on-tone background for a more detailed stamped image, but today I decided to get my watercolor on and watercolor the entire image to create a more realistic background for a little counter scene. Let's get started with the details!

I began by stamping the Kitchen Shelf Background onto an A2 panel of watercolor paper using Moonstone Pigment Ink, then sprinkled some White Satin Pearl embossing powder over the top and heated it up. This combination creates a very pretty shade of pearly charcoal, and I am super excited to try out the White Satin Pearl embossing powder with the other shades of pigment ink to create custom colored embossing! Once I'd finished heat embossing, I used the Daniel Smith Hero Arts watercolor palette to watercolor the individual images, keeping to a cheery teal and red color scheme.

To create my little counter scene, I did a ton of die cutting using the new Hero Tools Compact Cutter. The smaller dies in the Autumn Bouquet Fancy Dies, Kitchen Tools Fancy Dies, and Treat Tags Stamp & Cut XL work perfectly with the new Compact Cutter! I cut the images to create a somewhat cluttered counter from some colorful Cranberry, Adriatic, and Pebble cardstocks.

I trimmed a small rectangle of white cardstock to create the counter top, then arranged the different components on the counter, adhering them with a combination of foam tape and Precision Glue for lots of different heights. I added a white embossed greeting from Treat Tags Stamp & Cut XL, which I embossed on a small rectangle of Adriatic cardstock. The busy background image helps to maintain a somewhat simpler appearance by limiting the color palette to mostly teal and white, with pops of red. The limited background color palette helps to allow those bold standalone die cuts to pop in the foreground.

Well, that's all for me today! Thanks so much for reading, and have a marvelous day!
