CommUNITY: Inspiration from Andy Granick

Hi friends! Today we are here with an installment of our monthly series, CommUNITY, where we share artwork from artists who we'd love for you to get to know. CommUNITY is about embracing and honoring the creativity of individuals who are often underrepresented. By sharing art from a diverse group of creators, we hope to not only bring inspiration to this papercrafting community we all love so much, but also support and empower individuals to be their authentic selves as they create and share. Look for a new CommUNITY guest artist right here on the blog each month. Today our incredible guest is Andy Granick!

Hey everyone. My name is Andy Granick and I am a card maker who lives in Northeast Pennsylvania. I began crafting a few years ago when I was gifted an electronic die cutting machine. I was hooked from that moment on. My thought process when it comes to making a card is simple – pull out supplies, sit down, start creating. Rarely do I sit down with a specific card idea in mind. My process is very organic and I make what speaks to me at the time. Occasionally, I will decide on a certain technique before I sit down but the process remains fluid...and messy.

For my projects, I kept the designs fairly simple. For my first card, I ink blended a rainbow background in Distress Oxide Inks and then stamped the sun image from the Rainbow HeroScape stamp set in the same ink. I used a sentiment from that same set.

For my second card, I took the same Distress Oxide Inks and stamped the sun image from Rainbow HeroScape again to make my own patterned paper and used a few sentiments from the same set. I made several of each card. Enjoy!

Andy, thank you so much for sharing your fantastic projects and talent with us today! You can find more of Andy's gorgeous creations over on Instagram.
